Full story update. Otley win in last seconds!

 

Yet again a game of two halves where Albion did not play as good in the second half as they did in the first.  Otley's forwards out played ours  but a try from Martin Schusterman  and three penalties from Nick Defty were not enough for the three unconverted tries from Otley's back Robin Kitching and front row Justin Wring and Mark Luffman. Otley suffered from not having their main kicker and not getting a single point with the boot, even from right in front of the posts, but still came out on top.

It all started very well and within five minutes we had been awarded a penalty for not rolling away and we scored three points up thanks to Nick Defty's boot.  Otley bounced back within minutes when Luke Arscott uncharacteristically failed to stop Robin Kitching from scoring in the corner.  Martin Schusterman managed to bring the score back in Albion's favour with a try after a quick ball from Nigel Cane, who stayed on for the whole match for the second time running. Twenty odd minutes in Nick missed for the second time but was successful ten minutes later after a maul was pulled down and another penalty goal just before the half time whistle.

Albion failed to score a single point in the second half and spent most of their time defending in their own half.  Halfway through the second half Otley scored a forwards try to bring the lead down to four points. The only Albion replacement of the match, Graham Dawe, came on with just over ten minutes to go and it looked as though we just might get away with it. Unfortunately for us in the last play of the game Otley's Prop Justin Wring broke through the Albion defence to score under the posts. The missed conversion made no difference to the result but Otley ended up 15 - 14 winners.
