Match Preview/Stats/Thread: Sunderland v Newcastle Utd

Newcastle United travel to the Stadium of Light for tomorrow’s lunch time kick off against Sunderland. Newcastle go into the game on the back of two wins, two defeats and two draws in their last six games in all competitions, whilst Sunderland host on the back of two wins, three draws and one defeat from their last six in all competitions.
Newcastle United Manager Alan Pardew welcomes Cheik Tiote, Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse back from international duty, but is likely to give Ameobi as start as he often performs well in derby games and has scored 7 Premier League goals in derby games.
Steven Taylor (calf), Tim Krul (elbow) and Fabricio Coloccini (hamstring) all returned to training this week and are likely to play a part. Newcastle are however without, Rob Elliot (groin) and Dan Gosling (knee). Shane Ferguson (thigh) is expected to return tomorrow but may face a late fitness test, whilst Haris Vuckic and Ryan Taylor are both out for the majority of the season.
Danny Simpson (hamstring) may also feature and Newcastle will play in their lime green Europa kit after fears of a colour clash with their normal kits.
For Sunderland, James McClean (groin) is back, as is Phil Bardsley (ankle), whilst Titus Bramble is a doubt.
Both managers understand the importance of the game and whilst derby day is always buzzing, Newcastle will be looking for their first win on the road this season, whilst Sunderland, who have only one 1 game in their last 15 against Newcastle (W1 D6 L8) will be looking for their second win of the season.
Lee Cattermole is completing a 3 match ban.
Fact: 88% of Newcastle United’s goals this season have come in the 2nd half of their games.
Fact: There have been 4 red cards for Sunderland players in the last 4 games between the two sides and 25 yellows between the teams.

I really hope all the lads are well fired up for this, as they should be. I believe we are hands down the best team of the two and agree with steven taylors assesment of the squads in the papers today 
My heart says a comfortable 3-0 win to shut all those mackems up, though I dont know if its just nerves or what but the butterflys in my stomach say 1-1 for some reason.
I would like to see us take all 3 points and pick up no injurys of the hacking unwashed

Besides the great start, we are giving them to much space in midfield..
Adam Johnson looks really fired up on their right, and Jonas and Santon will have to be carefull out there..

I agree. Also he was being massively pulled back before that if the ref had awarded the foul when he should have done it wouldn't have happened.

I think we have shown time and time again that we cannot hold onto a win. And under those circumstances it always makes it harder.
BUT as long as we can continue to take at least take a point rather than nothing I am happy(ish) after those games

We played well, and if we hadn't been down to 10 men so early on, Im sure we would have went on and took all 3 points.
The ref today was appauling, sunderland ended with no cards ??? funny I remember some challenges flying in off gardener, larson and co. Shola got kicked at chest height, the ref did not blow for the foul early enough thus tiote was still battling for the ball, then when the ref did blow it was too late and also fletcher had his foot high too, I think a yellow would of sufficed and where was the booking for the ginger mackem (colback) trying to strangle tiote ?
At least the lads tried to the very end. A point was a good result under the circumstances and our run against the mackems goes on, they cannot beat a 10 man newcastle at home. So all in all happy.

We cant be too unhappy the way the game went, we played over 70mins with 10 men and contained the threat, we finished the game with more shots than them and more on target, their only shots on target were from free kicks!
Willo and Colo totally outclassed their strikers and Santon, jonas and tiote/perch nullified their main threat with the way they played against johnson!
The ref cost us 2 points today, i counted six fouls gardner should have been booked for, Cuellar was constantly fouling Ba and Colback and McClean could have easily had 2 or 3 yellows each, johnson ran the ball out of play 2 or 3 times and no official noticed, gardner kicks the ball out for a corner and they get a goal kick! Cueller hacked down Ba from behind, never touched the ball and the ref waves play on, Willo tackles from behind clears the ball and the ref awards them a free kick on the edge of the box!
I'm not one who normally criticises the officials but i have to say that was one of the worst performances i have seen for a long time!
Unfortunately for Ba he wa in the wrong place at the wrongtime, i often wish strikers wouldn't get themselves in this position when defending a free kick/corner
