Spurs Eyeing Up Bid For Shola

It is believed that Spurs will be making another attempt to sign Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi in the January transfer window.

While Sir Bobby Robson was in charge at St James' Park, they had a bid for the player rejected, but now Graeme Souness is at the helm, reports suggest that Spurs will be having another go.

The England under-21 player may well be up for a move to White Hart Laneif it meant he would be getting regular first team action.  At the moment, Alan Shearer, Craig Bellamy and Patrick Kluivert are all ahead of him in the picking order.

Graeme Souness has been told he must sell before he buys in January, but Shearer plans to retire at the end of this season, so surely Souness would want to keep hold of Shola as cover.  Also, wouldn't Shola want to stay at St James' Park to take over from Shearer?
