PMM: Peterborough

Town manager Jim Magilton has taken positives away from Town’s Carling Cup defeat against Peterborough earlier tonight.

Jim: “We paid the price for giving away two sloppy goals but we had enough chances to have won the game comfortably, I could only see one team winning it after Jason equalised right at the end of normal time but fair play to Peterborough, they took their penalties well and we didn't.

 

“It was a magnificent Cup-tie and we came out the wrong end of a penalty shoot-out but I can take plenty of positives from the night, particularly from the young lads.

 

“I couldn't ask anymore from them. They gave it everything but it just wasn't to be our night, that's football.

 

“We had nine players out there under 22 and that all bodes well for the future. We were obviously under pressure after four games without a win coming into this match and I didn't feel it was right to start with some of them.

 

“I didn't want them to be put into a pressure-cooker situation but they handled it well and we have to move on from here and look forward to a big game at QPR on Friday night."
