PMM: Chester 0-0 Town

Town manager Jim Magilton says Town were lucky to get a draw against league 2 side Chester City earlier today.

Jim: “A replay is the least Chester deserved. They were better than us in many areas and I was really disappointed with our performance, we didn't do the basics well whereas they did. Their front two were lively and caused us problems and I'm glad Shane was there to make the saves when he did.

“It was chalk and cheese compared to our performance against Birmingham last week. We didn't do the 'nasty' side of the game well and didn't show enough desire to win a football match.

“The players have got to learn you don't just turn up and win games. We seemed to have people out there who thought it would be a case of just putting the shirt on.

“It's another step we have to overcome because we need to be turning in good performances week after week, regardless of the opposition. To do that you have to earn the right to play.

Chester made it difficult for us, they were well organised and had good quality on the ball. They will probably feel aggrieved they didn't win the game.

“We didn't pass the ball well, we didn't create many chances and I'm very relieved we are still in the FA Cup.

“We will have turn in a much better display in the replay if we want to progress, I'm sure of that.”
