Report: Town 0-1 Watford

Ten men Town played 12 man Watford off the park at Vicarage Road earlier today but were undone by a late goal.

Town made the so-called Premier League side look more like Ridgeons League for the entire game.

 

Legwinski nearly gave Town the lead after 15 minutes but his 25-yard-effort rebounded off the bar having beaten Watford goalkeeper Richard Lee.

 

Daniel Harding and Danny Haynes linked up well down the left hand side, Haynes used his pace to leave the Watford defence standing only to fire into the side netting.

 

Referee Steve Bennett had clearly noticed how one side the game was so he decided to send off Town midfielder George O’Callaghan for something involving Danny Shittu, I would tell you what but I think only Steve Bennett saw the ‘foul’ and deemed it worthy of a red card.     

 

Despite playing with only ten men Town continued to be the better side and did manage to get a goal only to have it ruled out for offside. Daniel Harding had fired the ball from 25 yards into the bar and Danny Haynes reacted fastest to fire the ball home only to be adjudged to be offside when Harding first made the shot.

 

Watford’s attacking play was pretty much limited to free kicks and corners as their strikers demonstrated why they are bottom on the Premiership with shots going everywhere apart from near enough Lewis Price’s goal.

 

But Harding was caught out after a 70 yard run, leaving Town short at the back allowing Watford to score.
