PMS: Town 0-1 Wolves

Sadie (Shady Blue Lady) is back giving us her own unique look at Town’s game against Watford yesterday.

The squad facing Wolves saw big changes from the impressing squad at Watford with the return of captain Jason De Vos, Alan Lee, Walters and Garvan there was no room for Sito, Currie, Trotter and O’Callaghan.

 

With Price in goal, Wright, Bruce, De Vos and Harding in defence, Richards keeps his place in centre midfield along side Legwinski with Peters and Roberts on the wing. Up front is Walters and Lee. Today’s substitutes are Supple, Casement, Garvan, Clarke and Haynes.

 

Possibly two of the smallest men in football in Richards and Peters kick off the match for Town on this chilly, wet night and 2 minutes into the match I finally find a working pen to a Town free kick which is taken by Bruce, the ball comes to Harding who cannot make the Wolves box, the ball is cleared for a Town throw followed by good control by Legwinski, but this good play is let down by the fact that we have no one in an attacking position, still this is a promising start from the Tractor boys.

 

Lee is welcomed back in the 4th minute with some fantastic footwork followed by nice control and a shot into the box, but his efforts count for nothing when his shot is saved by the massive Matt Murray in goal for Wolves.

 

Lee then receives a warm welcoming return from Wolves having his head nearly knocked off.

 

In the 6th minute Price nearly slips up in his goal area but quickly recovered, I’m sure he knew what he was doing the whole time.

 

(I took a break for a nap and dreamt of a match that would have left me with a very different report).

 

On 8 minutes I munch on a rice crispy square mmm, then in the 9th minute the defence are looking shaky but Richards recovers the ball from Kightly but with Andy Keogh being offside anyway Price and his long legs takes the kick.

 

Bruce makes a good clearance on 11 minutes and sends the ball up field finding Walters who could have taken the chance on goal himself but passes over to Richards whose chance ended with Murray.

 

Mick McCarthy looks cold on 13 minutes and Haynes comes out to warm up, some people seemed far too happy to see him to be normal if you get my meaning.

 

14 minutes sees a scare in the Town defence but a good stop from Price and a clearance from Harding give Wolves a corner from which Potter loses the ball and Town attack, but good goalkeeping from Murray makes sure the ball goes no further.

 

Harding has a shot on 18 minutes after good play down the left wing but the shot goes over and a Wolves substitute scratches his bum.

 

Price is advised to shot by the Town fans from his own box on 20 minutes, Clapham receives a warm reception from the Town fans as he comes out for a stretch, soon followed by Garvan, Haynes and Clarke whose applaud is a much lesser one sounding much more like an audience at a golf range.

 

Wright decides to kick the ball into the middle of nowhere and then gets very angry about it with Roberts trying to calm him down, Wolves briefly attack but it ends when Stephen Ward is offside.

 

Wright is given the elbow in front of the slow lino, who is so slow that he can’t make the call then Roberts gets taken down by McIndoe, the kick is given but no card.

 

A brilliant shot from Peters requires a brilliant save from Murray on 27 minutes then a minute later good instructions from Richards to Wright clears the ball of danger.

 

On the half hour Town have a free kick after a little scuff between Ward and Walters, the kick taken by Richards is well defended then a good interception from Legwinski parading the cave man look brings the ball back into Towns possession.

 

On 32 minutes Bruce and Price are arguing once again and a mistake from Wright leaves Ward open to beat Price from the left, and at a sharp angle mission complete, the ball rolls under Price with power and speed leaving the visitors a goal up, Town once again are on the back foot at home.

 

In the 35th minute Roberts who has worked extremely hard through out the 1st half is now obviously tired and Town are showing no signs of getting past Murray.

 

McIndoe gives Bruce a knock in the back, a free kick is given but still no card, as the ball comes into the box something happens between De Vos and a visitor with them both ending up down on the floor away from play, the incident is ignored and Roberts shoots wide.

 

McIndoe is at it again on 39 minutes stopping Lee on a goal run from behind, still no card! The free kick turns into a corner, then another one from which Lee is shoved into the back inside the box, free kick to Wolves, urm, obviously.

 

That’s pretty much it for the 1st half which ends with the Wanderers play.

 

It’s the 2nd half and McIndoe is finally booked! For kicking the ball away.

 

The Tractor boys are putting the Wolves defence under pressure, but the visitors remain calm.

 

In the 55th minute Roberts is denied by Edwards and as Towns corner ball comes Lee is pulled down but the incident isn’t seen.

 

Towns defence are slacking again on 57 minutes in fact the only one in existence is Harding leaving Michael Kightly with space and time in front of the Town goal, but Price pulls off a great save to deny the visitors, what on earth is going on with our defence today, (It doesn’t help that De Vos is all over the place).

 

Onto 63 minutes Collins and Kightly are arguing whilst referee whose name is too long for me to be bothered to try and spell is telling off Murray.

 

A minutes later Wolves score again but it’s offside, I think Roberts has lost the plot.

 

In the 67th minute Edwards is very amused with himself for kicking the ball out for what should be a corner but a goal kick is given and a double substitution is made for Town with Haynes and Garvan replacing Lee and Roberts.

 

71 minutes I’m tired, this has turned really lame, the attendance is 20 602 and I win funky sock again.

 

Garvan has a go at attack- and fails on 73 minutes and I receive a txt to which I start a reply in the 74th.

 

Legwinski sets up Garvan in the 75th minute but it is blocked by the solid Wolves back line and Ward is down for treatment after a collision with Harding.

 

Town have a corner on 77 minutes taken by Richards, Garvan gets onto the ball but is denied by the cross bar.

 

On 79 minutes I finally finish sending a reply then a minute later Keogh has a shot but it’s over everyone and out. Keogh is then replaced by Craddock.

 

Clarke replaces Legwinski on 82 minutes after Walters is brought down by an arm around the neck and I get a reply to my text.

 

Wolves have a free kick which Henry hits wide, Walters heads wide for Town, Harding is brought down in the Wolves box by Edwards but a corner is given that is well defended.

 

I finish sending the reply to the text in the 89th minute as Davies replaces Ward and 3 minutes time is added.

 

Walters is careless in the midfield losing the ball to the visitors before Wright gives away a corner, when Price sends the ball up the lazy looking Town are useless to respond so when Town are awarded another free kick on the half way Price comes out to take it himself, but that’s it, the match is over and the feelings of the fans afterwards couldn’t be more different from that at the weekend. To the defence and attack- Buck your ideas up!
