Report: Town 0-2 Southend
By Aston
March 10 2007
Town put in a totally inept performance and were deservedly beaten 2-0 by Southend at Portman Road earlier today.
For some bizarre reason the entire Town side stopped dead in their tracks waiting for the offside flag to go up against Mark Gower, but it didn’t go up and he put the ball in off the post after 35 minutes.
The visitors made it 2-0 7 minutes later when Town failed to deal with a free kick and Peter Clarke volleyed home.
Town played the final 12 minutes with 10 men after Alan Lee, who had earlier talked himself into the referee’s book, was shown a second yellow card for handball.
