Update on the launch of the JC T-shirts

Reading Fatboy updates us on the launch of the JC Trust Fund T-shirts. There was a phenomenal response at both Henley and Sunbury on Saturday

Tee shirts are go

Saturday the 10th August saw the long awaited launch of the JC Tee shirts.

And it was a huge success!! Well over half of the 694 Tee shirts were delivered to the sellers at Henley and Sunbury. Henley was first with all of the sellers taking delivery of their allocations by about 11.00 am. Bisach, Eek and a few others set up the market stall below the banner kindly donated by TPL, and by about 2.00 pm. we were fresh sold out.

There was certainly a very warm response from all the players and spectators, and even one referee bought one and wore it while refereeing a match. Also, thanks to Torbs, the whole Marauders team were wearing the JC tops for warming up, and lolling about. Another important point is that many people took the flyer which OxonRob prepared, read it, and came back with a donation. This is indeed a popular cause, and Rugby demonstrated that it looks after it’s own.

TPL, and Paddy G. took the bundles of shirts for the sellers at Sunbury, and hot footed it along to the Bracknell game. The only problem they had was hanging on to the shirts long enough to unite them with their intended recipients. TPL confided, that he was actually a little emotional at seeing so many people wearing the JC shirts. Beefy bought 20, and I am told that Jarrods Fiancée Carrie bought one, and that Jarrod saw the shirts and loved them.

Bottom line here folks. Saturday was a great launch, and by the end of the day, nearly all of the sellers had sold out, and had recovered their outlay, as well as collecting extra money towards the fund.

What about all the other sellers? I hear you ask.

Fatboy and Helen had a lovely day on Sunday, sorting the remaining shirts into the required sizes and bundles, then an even better evening on Monday wrapping and addressing the bundles. The young lady at the post office on Tuesday had a long lecture (a la Marketing rants) from RFB on the importance of smiling and giving customer service when a big fat bloke comes in and demands that she weighs and puts postage stamps onto 17 great big packages. (To her credit she cheered up markedly when she understood about the charity). So all of the shirts which were intended for mailing were mailed on Tuesday 13th of August and with a bit of luck should arrive by Saturday.

TPL has contacted the sellers who asked to collect at Twickenham, and will deliver all those, and the four or five people who asked to collect from RFB are all in hand. That just leaves about half a dozen for hand over at:- Greystones, The Bath game and The Leeds game.

The majority of the loot has been collected (If you haven’t paid yet, please do so when the shirts are handed over, Or if they are being delivered to you please send a cheque to RFB as soon as possible), and at this point I must make a special mention of the two anonymous donors, who have contributed £300 each, to pay for the printing on the Tee shirts. Thanks guys, you know who you are.

Just a note to those who have given Cheques to RFB. These will be banked on Friday 16th August.

So….. The party is nearly over, and it is getting to that time of night when fat blokes are starting to get interesting and there ain’t no such thing as an ugly girl. SO WHAT NEXT????

That my friends, is up to you.

We can hand over the cash to the JC Fund, at the Bath game. Or we can reinvest in more merchandise, and try to multiply the fund.
