U19s defeat Sarries

Last Saturday I wandered over to the Stoop on a freezing cold afternoon to see Quins V Sarries U19’s.

The game started well for Quins with our forwards gaining an early dominance. Sarries were under pressure for much of the 1st quarter, which saw Quins score, two tries from prop Alex Fisher.

Whilst trying to open the game up (and succeeding on occasions) the cold conditions saw a few dropped balls from both sets of backs which kept the score line low.

HT 10-3 to Quins.

As the 1st half came to a close Sarries began to assert themselves more which was the pattern for the second half, with both teams cancelling each other out.

The defining moment came with a break from centre Tosh Masson picking the ball up in midfield and hairing for the line with a zig zagging run to just keep him ahead of his pursuers.

Man of the Match for me was our Prop Mark Lambert who looked very strong both going forward and in the tackle, I’m sure we will be hearing a lot of him in the future.

On a sad note Alex Rogers was stretchered off with a couple of mins to go with a knee injury (I think). He was knocking on the door of an England call up, so lets hope for an early recovery
