Kenya Quins Roundup: Barbeque Time

Kenya Harlequin Club Captain Edward Kinyany this weekend holds a barbeque at the club better known as the "captain's goat". This will be on Saturday 5th November 2005 at the Quins clubhouse from 12pm. All players, fans, officials and well-wishers of the club are invited.


Just to remind ourselves what's in the trophy cabinet this year as well as pay tribute to the players, Quins have:

  1. Easter Blackrock Trophy
  2. Chairman's Cup
  3. Kisumu Sevens
  4. Driftwood Sevens
  5. Kenya National Sevens Championship
  6. Kenya Cup League - 3rd place
  7. Enterprise Cup Semi finalist

And that's what was in stock for 2005.

Meanwhile neighbours Impala have borrowed 2 Quins players Sidney Ashioya and Allan Makaka as they make an appearance at this weekends prestigious Singapore Cricket Club Rugby Sevens tournament sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank. Impala who normally boast a stable of between 75 to 100 players needed some real quality and class and thus could only find this from across the fence by turning to neighbours Kenya Harlequins. The two players are on an all expenses paid junket. Just to confirm the superiority of Quins over Impala, they also requested the services of Quins 7's tactician Gordon Anampiu who also doubles up as the national 7's coach who ably conducted sessions with them for two weeks prior to their departure. Impala used to be coached by former national 7's coach Bill Githinji. One wonders where he disappeared to in all this.

Sources have also revealed that a busybody employee of the rugby union who is also a die-hard Impala fan has on numerous occasions been requesting Quins and National 15's coach Tom Odundo to conduct a few training sessions for their 15's squad in order to improve their rugby to the superior technical levels of Quins. Surely this is asking for too much. We may be across the fence neighbours but why do you want to come inside our kitchen? Get your own cook!!!!
