Northampton Saints have made nine changes to their side for this weekend’s Premiership Rugby Cup clash against Wasps. The competition’s defending champions return to home soil for the first time this season to lock horns with their midlands rivals, after a defeat away at Sale Sharks last time out. Director of rugby Chris Boyd won two out of three matches against Wasps during his first season at the helm, and the Kiwi has rung the changes with five new faces in his back-line taking to the Franklin’s Gardens turf (kick-off: 3pm, live on BT Sport).

Chirs Boyd has finished his first season in charge at Saints with the goal of getting Saints back into the top 6 the main objective, it's probably fair to say the minority thought we would get into the top 4, by 18 inches they made it capping off an amazing first season of the new era and bringing some silverware with them along the way. The players can't speak high enough of the man at the top, his vision is clear to all and they are headed in the right direction, my question is this, would Saints have acheived the same result, better or worse without the injuries they had?
