Tough Start

Friday night under lights at The Stoop could not be a better way to start the new league season. It'll be tough as last season's runners-up Bath visit but there's been enough going on during the summer to show the faithful that last season's run of poor results may well be over. It's a sell-out and if you've missed your chance to get a ticket it's on TNT/HBO kicking off at 7.45.
Better Things In Store?

Are we due for some success at Kingsholm? We will get a clue this weekend as the Cherry and Whites pop down to Chiefs for the Prem season opener. It's on the box-on Saturday with one of those 3.05 kick offs.

CC1 The Ultimate End Game - Surrey at Taunton Roll the Dice

The last game of the season, the only thing in our hands is whether we win the gsame or not. The points combinations after that are wide and varied. Us Warks or Notts take yer pick. All we can do is wortk with what we have and see how the chips fall. Surrey have won the toss and TKC comes in for Jake Ball and other than that it is the Leeds line-up. Off we go on the rollercoaster of the CC1!!

And so we move into the end of the Championship. If we are to win this thing then this game will tell us what to do in the last home game next week. 3 games will effect the situation, we have control over only one as we meet Yorkshire at Headingley. Lewis Goldsworthy misses out to Archie Vaughan and Jake Ball is chosen instead of Josh Shaw. The rest of the side is the one that took Leicestershire down in 2 and a half days. Yorkshire won the toss and will take to the crease first.

The path to silverware comes like this. Beat Surrey today at the Oval. The beat Hampshire at Southamptonin the 'Eliminator' next Wednesday. Then beat Notts at the same place in the Final. Simples. The path starts today with a game in London. Win and we go on, lose and an excellent season ends at that point. Hope Springs eternal. Liv Barnes returns in stead of Jazz Westley today.

Azerbaijan GP: Encouraging qualifying from Williams F1 Team

Qualifying for the 2026 Azerbaijan GP would see the Atlassian Williams F1 Team achieve what was a very encouraging result for the team as their newly upgraded FW48 performed well allowing Carlos Sainz to finish 9th and Alex Albon 13th. For the first time in a considerable time the team saw one of their drivers, Carlos, make it into Q3, a significant achievement. It showed that the teams hard work was producing the desired results and that everyone at Williams should be very happy with their efforts and that the team is making the necessary steps forward. Unfortunately Carlos was to receive a 5 place grid penalty that will see him drop behind Alex on the grid with Alex starting 12th and Carlos 14th. Even so it does offer some opportunities come Saturday's race.
Azerbaijan GP: Friday focus on upgrades for Williams F1 Team

The Atlassian Williams F1 Team would head into the 2026 Azerbaijan GP with their focus being on a updated FW48. The team had been able to bring with them a new chassis built using a new production process that has seen the team, for the first time in 2026, being able to run with ballast to bring their car up to the minimum weight. The team also updated several areas of the car including the front and rear brake ducts plus parts of the floor including changed intake channels. The question was how well would this updated car perform. Both Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon commented that the car was a step in the right direction but that it was very early in the process of getting the best from it. Hopefully Saturday practice will give a better indication of where the car is at.
Azerbaijan GP: Atlassian Williams F1 Team Grand Prix Preview

After the frustations of the Spanish GP held at the new Madring circuit the Atlassian Williams F1 Team moves to the city of Baku for the 2026 Azerbaijan GP. The race will mark the arrival of an updated FW48, which has been the subject of much discussion. It is hoped that the updates car can see a step forward in helping return the team to being a competiive one again after a lenghty run of races where both Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon struggled. Reports have the team arriving with a new chassis which is aimed at reducing the weight of the FW48 back down to the weight limits. That it itself would help find time with the car but it won't be until after the Thursday practice that the team will have a true assessment as to how the cars performance has been improved.
