  • A SALE BEFORE THE SEASON

It seems very strange to be playing a “PREM” Cup game in very early September sandwiched between the friendly pre-season game at Perpignan and the pre-season friendlies against Bedford and a tougher warm up match against Glasgow. The format remains the same as last year and in our Pool, we have Sale, Bristol, Gloucester and Exeter and we play all of the teams home and away.

  • SARRIES v NORTHAMPTON Preview

First of all a very big welcome to Nick who is the newest member of our editorial team. Please show him your appreciation for his preview After Friday’s warm up act here comes the main event, the start of the 2026/27 competitive season.  It is fair to say that last season as a whole was (massive understatement coming up) a tricky one for Saracens, and nowhere was this more evident than in the Prem Cup. 3 wins out of 8, 2 of which came against a weak Newcastle side, was a poor return for a talented group. That set of results also included losses home and away to our opponents in Round 1 of this year’s competition, Northampton Saints.

  • CC1 Happy Grockles Day!! Glamorgan at Taunton

Welcome to the penultimate CC1 game of the season. it seems today is the day when Grockles users who are not in the vicinity most of the time or work for a living are meeting up at the ground to watch a bit of cricket together. First I knew about it but Yay!! The weather cold be better but we do start almost on time. The clouds are grey and rain is in the air. Somerset won the toss and have put Glamorgan in with Goldsworthy joining the XI picked for Hove in the place of Ball who was in for Shaw.

  • CC1 v Sussex at Hove

Sussex have won the toss and will bowl first and we are startying on time.  No Jake Ball today.  Josh Shaw comes in as the third seam bowler and Lewis Gregory will captain.  Not sure yet whether he will bowl but one would assume he will.  Craig Overton also comes back and Lewis Goldsworthy misses out from the eleven.  There was a predicted thunderstorm in the early morning today but the rain has gone away and though it might be a bit moist it is a sunny morning in Hove.

  • Women's Metrobank v Durham - Last game to Taunton

The last game at the home ground in the Metro for Somerdset Women.  They will be at Taunton Vale for a couple but this will be the final County Ground appearance of 2026.  fter the excellent win in Hampshire last week the side will be preparing for their T20 Finals Day at Old Traffoed next weekend but first there is the little matter of Durham in a 50 over game.

    The Martinelli Fallacy

There's a wonderful line in The Social Network. The character who plays Mark Zuckerberg is being grilled by an attorney over allegations that he stole the idea for Facebook off a couple of twins. And he goes, 'If your clients invented Facebook then they would have invented Facebook'. Or something to that effect.

  • Italian GP: Atlassian Williams F1 Team Grand Prix Preview

Italian GP: Atlassian Williams F1 Team Grand Prix Preview

After the frustrations of the Dutch GP, where we saw both Williams cars crash into each other, the Atlassian Williams F1 Team has had two weeks in which to regroup as they prepare for this weekends 2026 Italian GP. Coming off a positive 2025 Italian race where Alex finished in the points it is hoped that the team can come away with a positive weekend, maybe not with any points but certainly with both Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz having uneventful weekends. For the team it is going to be a test of how well they can cope with the issue of energy recovery and tyre management.

  • Dutch GP: Difficult race for Atlassian Williams F1 Team

Dutch GP: Difficult race for Atlassian Williams F1 Team

The 2026 Dutch GP would turn out to be a difficult one for the Atlassian Williams F1 Team with once again, despite some early encouraghing pace, the team continues to suffer from an uncompetitive FW48. For Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz it was a race that would unfortunately see the pair make contact going into T1 as Alex was trying to pass Carlos. This would see damage to Alex's car which would see him forced to pit. He would be classified as 17th while Carlos would continue to be 16th. Very much a race that I suspect the team will want to move on from very quickly.

  • Dutch GP: Difficult Sprint & Qualifying for Williams F1 Team

Dutch GP: Difficult Sprint & Qualifying for Williams F1 Team

The Sprint and Qualifying session would prove to be both difficult sessions for the Atlassian Williams F1 Team with both Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz finishing down the order in both. The Sprint would see Carlos starting from the pit lane and for him his Sprint would become pretty much a test session. For Alex would he would finish where he started in 16th. Qualifying would see Alex 16th and Carlos 17th after making some changes that did improve their cars but not by as much as hoped. It is very much the case that both drivers are getting the best from a car that is far from its most competitive.
