    Blues v Bath

Blues with their new blue seats take on Bath on Friday 7:30pm. With Blues away to Worcester the following week the most important thing will be remaining injury free!

  • Ampthill v Saracens Pre-Season Friendly Preview

If our first pre-season game against Cornish Pirates was about forging new friendships, this weekend is all about renewing old ones. The link between the two clubs has been extremely beneficial to both parties over the last few years. Sarries get game time for their up and coming prospects and “The Mob” get to fill out their squad with some Premiership quality.

  • A RETURN TO FRIENDL(IES) AT BEDFORD

A return to playing a couple of preseason matches building to the start of the Gallagher Premiership with the away match at Harlequins. I recall playing Bedford in the PREM Cup a couple of years ago when the Championship Clubs were admitted and we played Bedford and Ampthill.  Their league has been rebranded “Champ Rugby”, presumably by the same marketing company that imaginatively rebranded the The Premiership Cup as the PREM Cup!

  • Women's Metrobank Must Win v Lancashire

The Women have two games left to get into a position to go forward into a semi final and a possible place in the Final of the One Day Cup in Southampton in about a fortnight's time.  Both our Somerset sides could be in a trophy final stages in the last week of the season.  But the women have to win both games to be certain and may still need Warwickshire to mess up along the way.  You can only do what you can do and each game left in the season counts.  We face Lancashire at Taunton today in what could be Kate Cross's last professional match of a phenomenal career.  Sophie luff has won the toss and elected to field first.  The ground looks ready so we seem to be starting on time

  • CC1 v Leicestershire and Friends!!

We go to Leicestershire for the first time in a long time for a Championship match and Jake Ball returns to a sidse that is pretty much the one that beat Glamorgan in 3 days last week.  the rain has delayed the start but the Foxes have won the toss and decided to bowl first.  We face ex Somerset players, but not the ones you would expect.  no Ben Green or Josh Davey in the side but we will be seeing Nathan Gilchrist who has been loaned to Leicestershire by rivals Warwickshire for this game.  He'll then be returning to Birmingham to help in their attemp to win the CC1 when they play the Foxes in their lasat game.  What a coincidence that he should be surplus to requirements when Somerset are pushing to for the title and then is necessary in their own Championship run in

  • CC1 Happy Grockles Day!! Glamorgan at Taunton

Welcome to the penultimate CC1 game of the season. it seems today is the day when Grockles users who are not in the vicinity most of the time or work for a living are meeting up at the ground to watch a bit of cricket together. First I knew about it but Yay!! The weather cold be better but we do start almost on time. The clouds are grey and rain is in the air. Somerset won the toss and have put Glamorgan in with Goldsworthy joining the XI picked for Hove in the place of Ball who was in for Shaw.

  • Early days of Autumn

    Early days of Autumn

I’ve waited a few days before writing this.  Sometimes it’s better to allow thoughts to gestate. Tuesday night’s game against Rotherham still represents a major improvement in the way we are playing. The result could be very important for us by the end of the season.

  • Spanish GP: Atlassian Williams F1 Team Grand Prix Preview

Spanish GP: Atlassian Williams F1 Team Grand Prix Preview

Just one week after the Italan GP the Atlassian Williams F1 Team moves to Madrid and the Madring circuit for the 2026 Spanish GP. With the track been Carlos Sainz home race it is hoped that the team can come away with a successful race. But given that this is a totally new track with a whole series of unknown elements, ranging from the track surface, energy management, through to the banked curves, it going to be a demanding event. But for the team it will see them run their special livery with its FW07 heritage so again hopefully this will see the team be successful.

  • Italian GP: Best race result possile for Williams F1 Team

Italian GP: Best race result possile for Williams F1 Team

The 2026 Italian GP would see the Atlassian Williams F1 Team drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon finish 13th and 17th. Both drivers would in their own ways came away with decent races given the limitations of the FW48. For Carlos he would make a fantastic start in the first attempt, prior to a Red Flag, and he felt he had good race pace. But he would also suffer from deployment issues that saw him lose places in the opening laps of the race. For Alex starting from the rear of the grid after engine penalties made his race difficult but he would also come away falling victim to the issues that the FW48 has. It was a race where both drivers achieved the best result on the day as frustrating as that might be for the teams fans.
