Barnsley sign Clayton Taylor

The Australian is contracted on three-year deal, with an option of a further year in the club’s favour. 

The 22-year-old comes off the back of a productive 2025/26 in the A-League, where he scored nine goals and provided two assists. 

Taylor progressed through the academy system as Sydney FC, before making the move to Newcastle Jets where he has become an exciting young prospect. 

He was thought to be on the radar of some Championship and other League One clubs. 

Taylor told the club website: "Barnsley's philosophy really appealed to me. The club has a young, ambitious squad, and I felt this was the right time in my career to take the next step, challenge myself in a new environment and test myself at a higher level. 

“Barnsley was the right choice for me, and I'm excited to get started."
