Blues v Scottish

What a disapppointment it was at Castle Park, Blues didn't turn up! We barely had the ball all game and when we did we did some silly kicks.  However I am sure it is just a blip, but we may now be looking to secure 3rd rather than 2nd.

Scottish lost well against Worcester and Blues this week I think the team needs a bit of a refresh and it should be good enough to take on Scottish.

I think we have missed Tonga'uiha and his extra call carrying in recent weeks.

I would start Griffin at tighthead, Evans (for Ward), Sylvester (for Tuilagi who took a knock). If Hoskings is around, perhaps start him at 7, unless Brown returns.

In the backs Lennon and Price should start, Adamson can come back onto the wing.

Really interested to see how we perform without Rory. He’s had a great season thus far. Chance for others to step up. Could be some very late bench changes if the game remains tight. Let’s hope we get on top by 50 minutes. Like the look of Pasco for example.

I know the opposition wasn’t up to much, but I think our attack has generally looked better with Lennon this season than Day, who’s standards have started to drop a bit from previous seasons. Earlier in the season it looked like Lennon had grasped the starting position but for whatever reason he’s not had much of a look in recently. Hope he gets another run in the team.

I also thought Archie Hoskins had a promising 20 minute cameo. Won a really good jackal turnover and made a line break. I think we’ve lacked a natural 7 most of the season, generally playing 3 6/8s. Finch has not really grasped his opportunity so I’d like to see Hoskins get a start next week.

I also hope we keep Ben Griffin for rest of the season. Has been solid and offers better cover for Heffernan for when we don’t have Sonny.

Well, we certainly started fast as I hoped earlier in this thread.

Clearly Mike and the coaches got stuck into them before kick off. We have to do the same away against top half teams, and we can.

Job done. Well done Blues. Next!

I agree with Bluesman

Day has been disappointing, it was noticeable, the first thing Day did was go for a box kick. I would like us to get a fast 9 for next season.

Hoskins, actually won 2 turnover penalties back to back and Finch hasn't done too much.

Griffin has looked solid and should be kept for the remainder of the season and next (if possible).

Having Adamson back made a difference, as we have been lacking a bit of pace in the backs this season without him, although Conway is trying to become our new winger with the 25m run! haha!

I’d love to poach Efan Jones from Ampthill for next season at scrum half. He seems to score a worldie every other week for Ampthill and would fit perfectly with our style of play. He was excellent against us in pre season although has been quiet in our 2 league games this season.

Yes he would be good, ironically Day played well today and snipped aroung the breakdown helping set up a try. He just doesn’t have the pace anymore.
