Match Report – Yeovil Town

All eyes were on Chester City’s number 27 yesterday as Chester hosted Conference leaders Yeovil Town at the Deva Stadium (Pictured left). The £100,000 man didn’t disappoint with two goals on his debut.

Mark Wright was boosted by the inclusion of new signing Daryl Clare for the visit of Yeovil Town. Jimmy Kelly, Wayne Hatswell, Kevin McIntyre and Steve Harkness who earlier left the club were unavailable for the fixture.

In the first half, City controlled long periods and on 15 minutes Daryl Clare struck a 25 yard strike which Yeovil keeper Chris Weale easily gathered. Scott Guyett headed over minutes later and Paul Carden saw a long range effort fly into the crowd.

On 23 minutes the deadlock was broken after a Ben Davies strike was poorly cleared and Clare was on hand to drive Chester into the lead via a deflection.

Clare almost made it 2-0 with a rocket of a freekick from 25 yards which struck the bar.

The score line remained the same until the 51st minute when Nick Crittenden drove home a McIndoe cross. Just 4 minutes later it was 2-1 to the Glovers when Harold Forinton struck from 6 yards.

With Yeovil in control and time running out it looked like City would drift 8 points behind the league leaders, until Daryl Clare latched onto a through ball and placed it underneath Weale.
