Patience of saints
Millwall fans have the patience of saints it seems, as once again the supporters backed the team to the hilt. The Lions are still living proof you can’t make savage cuts and have turmoil at the top without it having an adverse effect on the team.

Lions miss out again
Millwall missed out on Maurice Ross, Pablo Mills and possibly Richard Langley and Jermaine Wright on transfer deadline day. Nothing surprising in that really! But as usual, there's something inexplicable to report.

Keep up with Jones!
Paul Jones deserves a starting berth against Luton after his heroics against Bristol Rovers, especially after Andy Marshall’s latest performance. Marshall is a quality keeper, there’s no question that he’s one of our better players, but if we want to keep Jones we have to play him.

Ben May can’t do much more can he? A howitzer that Ipswich boss Joe Royle described as “a wonder goal” and yet he’s still not a first choice striker. Obviously, that’s why we’ve brought in Carl Asaba.

Prepare for the worst
Lack of preparation could be endemic at Millwall Football Club it seems. Even experienced managers like Colin Lee are affected by it, as we paid a heavy price in terms of goals against for going to Reading without goalkeeping cover.

The bookies rarely get it wrong we’re told and, when Millwall were priced 100/30 to get relegated at the end of the season, alarm bells were ringing for many fans. A more traumatic pre-season I can’t recall.

Phillips stars for Lions
Mark Phillips won the man of the match award against Coventry City. It was richly deserved as Millwall held out with 10 men against the Sky Blues strike force, which included the likes of Dele Adebola, Stern John, Gary McSheffrey and Jamie Scowcroft.

A good result?
After a summer of turmoil, a 2-1 defeat at Leeds could be seen as a good result. Okay, Leeds were without Rob Hulse – a former transfer target of Millwall’s when Dennis Wise was at the helm – but still they fielded a decent side.
