Here's an update on the fundraising and proposed use for the money. Peter Richards is one of 4 players to be sponsored as well as head coach Peter Thorburn. Please read on for further information.

Big Dave has been talking to the club on a pretty regular basis and the ‘deal on the table’ in return for the money donated is as follows:

1. Player Sponsorship of Richard Hunt, Peter Richards, Chris Rowland and Tom Luke along with sponsorship of Peter Thorburn until the end of the 2003-2004 season. As part of this package you will also receive:

 10 tickets in the West Enclosure for each game until the end of the 2003-2004 season.
 5 shirts signed by chosen players
 5 signed balls
 Entry into the ballot for international tickets
 Name in the matchday programme next to chosen player

2 The purchase of a set of strips for an Academy side (under 19’s or under 21’s) which will feature appropriate sponsorship e.g ‘kit sponsored by Friends of Bristol Shoguns’

3 The remaining money to be used to sponsor the Holiday Camp for under 12’s at Frampton Cottrell RFC on 17-20th February.

We feel that this is a pretty good deal (player sponsorship is quoted at £500 and we’ve got until the end of the 2003-4 season) and that the money is being used for worthwhile purposes.

If anyone does have any queries or feedback, feel free to email us at helpingbristolrugby@talk21.com

We felt that the free tickets should be made available to people who contributed to try and encourage along people who haven’t been to see the rugby before. A good idea?

We’re open to suggestions about what to do with the signed shirts and signed balls – raffle them off to raise further money for a ‘fighting fund’ maybe? Simply draw names out of a hat from the people who contributed? Feedback would be appreciated.

If we were lucky enough to get international tickets in the ballot, drawing names out of th ehat would seem to be the fairest way of doing things.

As I say, feedback on all of the above, would be appreciated to helpingbristolrugby@talk21.com.
