Looking for something to do at the weekend now the season's over? Why not get out & about in Bristol and enjoy some summer sun while raising funds for the Commonwealth Museum; it's the only one in the country & it's in Bristol.

This is your chance to take part in Bristol’s Commonwealth charity bike ride on Sunday 11th July. This bike ride will take you and your team-mates on a 30-mile route taking in many of Bristol’s finest vistas and points of interest. The fun of this event, however, is to answer questions along the way to work out the route but it is not a race – there is plenty of time to work out where your next destination is and pedal to it!

Teams will set off from the Museum towards the first of approximately 10 check-points at 9.00am. At each check-point you will meet with a marshal, who will hold the answer to your next destination. All you have to do is answer the question correctly and you are on your way. Questions could be on anything: on Bristol, on the Commonwealth or maybe even on the country that you are representing.

Could you pedal for Papua New Guinea, bike it for Belize or compete for Cameroon?

You will be given a map to help you work out the shortest route to your next destination and you are allowed to bring along as many reference books as you like if you think that they will help you answer the questions at the check-points. All teams will be given a set of points that can be used to trade for the answers the marshals hold. If your team cannot work out the answer, then you may choose to trade in one of your points for the answer. At the end of the ride the points your team has remaining will be used to help work out the winner. It doesn’t matter what route you choose to get from one check-point to the next – just so long as you get there.

How you represent your chosen country is up to you. You could wear that national dress, such as an Indian sari, an Australian Akubra hat complete with corks or even a Fijian tapa (for the women) or grass skirt (for the men only!!). Go on – be as imaginative and creative as you like and show off your flare!!!

Corporate teams, remember, you can promote your company name and logo, reaching thousands of clients and competitors and raising your company profile. You can also get your company to pay for your registration. Why not ask them to match the sponsorship money you raise too, after all, you will be promoting the company?!

Could you win Gold for Guyana, Silver for Sri Lanka or Bronze for Barbados?

Support will be available on the day, such as a roaming bike mechanic and the British Red Cross. The bike ride will finish at the Museum (clue to the last question!!) where refreshments will be available and where all team members will gain free entrance to the Museum on the day. We estimate that the event will finish by approximately 4.00pm.

Are you prepared to have fun in the summer sun? Are you prepared to risk letting your competitors getting ahead?
