Sale v Bath Preview
By FlyingShark
December 24 2004
After a week's hard training for the upcoming binge-fest this weekend, FlyingShark pops one dodgy mince pie too many and comes over all military for this preview of the post-festivies match-up between Sale and their west-country visitors from bath.
So... the turkey's been demolished, hangovers have finally started to allow you to open your eyes, one at a time mind, and Connelly's Bathtub weighs anchor in Shark-infested Stockport waters!!
PSA's gallant young braves line up for the most important game of the season thus far. After a run of three Zippee losses on the bounce, this game against our old friends is where we choose the direction our season is going to take… no pressure there then, eh lads! Victory on Monday will send us hurtling into the game against our Nemesis in a winning frame of mind, brimming with confidence.Losing will send us out of play-off position being leapfrogged by, of course, Bath. Add to that the influence a vital home win in front of only our second sell out crowd of the season will have in cementing our new fans around the team, then the stakes are obvious.
General Robbo hands down orders to his trusty Lieutenants Hodgson and Martens, organising the barrage of bombardiers Chabal and White, with the Sheridan tank trying to knock out the enemy big guns Borthwick and Grewcock. The opposition, possibly missing through injury one Isaac Feaunati, will be weakened, but the Welsh guard of Humphreys will be doing his best to breach our defences assisted by Sale deserters Nick Walshe and Big Dunc Bell.
One thing’s for sure, any penalties will be blasted by the Howitzer they call Olly Barkley, and a battle of the boot could be the decider between two evenly matched teams. Whilst we have lost the last three battles, the war is still there to be won. The outcome of today having a huge pschychological advantage on an intriguing rerun for the Powergen cup game on 21st Jan.
So, once more unto the breach dear friends, cry SSSAAAAAYYUUULLL and let slip the dogs of war..
