Nay-sayers Need Knights Nobbled Now!

Leeds Carnegie suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Cornish Pirates last weekend. A six try drubbing is not the best advert for the club on national television! There is only one thing that the squad can do next Sunday to go any way towards erasing the memory of the massacre at the Mennaye......
Nobble the Knights!
Right now some of the more faint hearted Leeds Carnegie fans are reaching for the strychnine. Certainly even the most optimistic fans are looking at promotion, once a probability, as a fading dream. Reality slapped the club and it's supporters right across the face. Diccon Edwards and Andy Titterrall have their work cut out this week getting the squad's collective mindset into a positive gear. The town of Doncaster, on the other hand, will be rubbing it's civic hands with glee at the prospect of catching Carnegie on its uppers.
From my perspective there is only one cure for the malaise that struck the team down in Cornwall. The team selected need to come out of their starting blocks at a rate of knots and knock the Knights back from the first whistle. Donny come into Sunday's match fresh from a four try demolition of London Scottish which seems to be the number of tries that they have scored each week since the opening day defeat at home to Bristol. They will not be a pushover.
Diccon should have Big Red back from injury and it would be nice if Wee Stevie was also fit as Lee Blackett was not a big success at fullback last week. It might also be prudent to start our newest and most experienced scrum half to help improve the game- management. Other than that the lads who played last weekend need to put that game behind them, move on and stick it to the Knights.
Nothing will change last weekend's result but a home win on Sunday will go some way to rinsing the bad taste of defeat out of our mouths. Leeds to win by six points.

The prediction league is a tough challenge at the momenet - have no idea what's going to happen week by week.
It is certainly going to be a long haul and I think the first target should be to get out of the bottom four, playing whatever kind of rugby is most likely to achieve this. If the team can then be strengthened by the return of some missing players we may be able to edge a little higher. Personally, I think promotion already looks a very remote prospect and, increasingly, an unwelcome one as we would once again be the financial poor relations and I don't fancy spending another season watching us getting whupped week-in, week-out.

Like all "cup half full" blokes I am expecting a plucky performance and a narrow win.
