Awaydays

Unique to HC?
By Flakey
July 14 2012

Leeds Carnegie fans do not travel in great numbers. There are, however, a few folk who regularly converge on away grounds from various parts of the county and from further afield........

This coming season we are aiming to be a bit more co-ordinated in our efforts to get as many people to away games as possible. I include in this the two "On the road" home games as well.  The club are a bit hit and miss when it comes to organising transport so it has been suggested by Gelbel that we have a permanent thread showing availability of lifts to venues away from Headingley

If you are going to the next away game ( as featured in this thread) and have a spare place or two  in your car then you can post it on here and I will add it to the feature.

Key information required:

     1. Number of seats available

     2. Starting point ( eg Skipton, York, Leeds etc)

     3. Possible pickup points

     4. Departure time.

Anyone needing a lift can then pm the offerer and make the arrangements.

So, to get this thread going_ Is anyone driving up to Newcastle on 11/08/12 & have a spare seat?

Excellent idea Flakey. I tend to only make my mind up at the last minute (e.g Roth last season where I set off from Leeds about 45 mins before kick-off) but I will try to be more decisive next season and offer lifts to people who are willing to put up with 100% Planet Rock on the car radio. On the other hand, some might prefer the train....

I live in the midlands so any pick up points that go to Bedford Moseley etc would be great. Am taking two of my friends for the first game at Nottingham and staying overnight so we will have at least three supporters there.

It would appear there is no club travel available so, who is going and how are they getting there?

COME ON LEEDS.
We've been through it all together.

I think there are two sides open at Meadow Lane but the best seats are in the Derek Pavis (Main) Stand at one side of pitch. Reasonable parking in Car Park behind opposite end of ground to Meadow Lane, off County Road I think. Street parking a lottery in immediate vicinity of ground.

Anyone meeting for a drink before the game in the area.

I know a little off-topic for this thread but I popped into the HC ticket office at lunchtime to buy a coach ticket to Threshfield on Sunday. Still seats available - "just over half-full" was the status report.

p.s. the pitch seems to have gone sandy-coloured, no sign of any growing medium or turf yet.

Not sure I follow that. If it were to be fully full couldn't they just book a bigger one?

It says "subject to availability" so no guarantee. Its also shown red "limited availability on the online booking form.

The message is: if you want to go by bus book now.

Intend to set off from North Leeds about 12-30, can pick-up at Headingley if required.
Send PM if interested.

Can set off and pick-up a bit earlier by request

Don't forget it's a 2pm kick off and you've got to get past Meadowhall traffic. As, such I'm leaving nearer 11:30.

Gelbel,
Try turning off the M1 at Junct. 35 - Thorpe Hesley the A629.This leads to a large roundabout from which take the A630 North

Room for 3 leaving west Leeds by 9am for Bristol on 25th January.

You probably want to arrange your own trip home, unless you make a weekend of it as I'm not coming home til Sunday afternoon (should be early pm) - clever person that I am has organised my annual girls' weekend at the same time. There would only room for 2 coming home - will have mother with me.(Sm122)

Offer's there if anyone wants to take some of it.

Also have space for travel to Bristol. Not yet firmed up on times but will be returning north after game on Friday night. Day booked as holiday from work so plenty to work with.

Bristol do their tickets for £14 (not sure of concession prices) up to 12 or 1pm of the Thursday before match day. Check their website.
