A quiet summer (for some)!

So we have gotten rid of our coach and replaced him with an RL man. Hardly caused a big ripple. Most of us, including Gary Hetherington, were surprised that Diccon resigned. Some of us had grudgingly admitted that he had actually done OK last season. Did this throw the club into turmoil? Er no!
We seemed to have accepted the change and have moved on. Recruitment has been a bit sparse this summer. This is not necessarily a bad thing as we have retained the bulk of our squad from last season. The annual "where's the back up 10?" chorus has had a few airings but nothing has changed.
The Lions provided a nice distraction to take our minds off the quietness. Then the fixtures came out and the magic weekend.
Now I take the view that the best team will win promotion next season so if we have an extra game, at a neutral venue, against one of the top sides in the division then we have to prove that we are worthy contenders and win it. Some people think it is unfair but heyho it is an extra awayday ( at one of our favourite venues)
Still, I thought, no reason to get excited. Then I read the offy today and got quite animated. Three of our under 18's are going on tour with England to South Africa. Not only that but they all play in the front row. Lewis Boyce, Jack Walker and Paul Hill have already turned out together in the same England team. Hill even had the audacity to score a 50 metre try in one game.
So some of you might remember a Welsh club providing the front row for the national team with the accompanying Max Boyce song. This was where I got animated & started singing: " Up and under, here we go. The song of the Under 18's front row!"
Well it has been a quiet summer! I am sure we all wixh the lads well on their travels in the southern hemisphere. Who knows? It might not be so long before they are playing in our 1st XV.

The normal number ten worry continues, otherwise we are well set for another onslaught for the Championship title.
Next season - bring it on!
