The long summer continues

It seems a long long time since we played Newcastle in the play-offs. Despite the fact that we have had some great sport to help us through the long hot summer ( did I really say that?) the time has dragged.....
One of the main reasons for the apparent longevity of the summer is our settled squad. A few key signings early on, the sacking (resignation?) of Diccon & a bit of chuntering about the lack of cover at 10 and that is that! End of news. Hopefully the players are taking on board what the new fitness coach has been telling them. I expect them to be absolutely ripped when they turn out for the pre-season at Heywood Road.
The "Wee Stevie" sponsorship has been a distraction and, despite the late arrival of last year's shirt, is slowly gathering momentum. It feels like an age since I sent off my seventy quid for my half price season ticket. Once I have gotten my holiday out of the way the pastime of "select our strongest team" can commence.
Will Jimmy's team selection be any easier to second guess than that of his predecessor? I doubt it but that will not stop us trying!
14th September will see me on the funbus heading south to Donny. It is still a month away. Grrr....
