The Knightmare Continues
By Almostatyke

The afternoon of Saturday 7th February 2014 would have been a pleasing sunny winter’s day except that I had the misfortune to go to the home of Doncaster Knights at Castle Park, Doncaster. Don’t get me wrong, the ground and the people of Donny are fine, and whilst I didn’t indulge in the offerings of the longest bar in Yorkshire or the Cow Pie, both looked very tempting. No - the culprit was the away team.
I have reported on two matches already this season – both were dire. Sadly from a Carnegie supporter’s point of view this was no better. As I seem to jinx things you will understand why I will not be doing any more reviews this season.
So to the match. Once I had taken the swear words out of my initial draft there was only three sentences left so I think I will just give an overview. Donny deserved to win this match because they were better at:
* Tackling
* Passing
* Running
* Kicking
* The Breakdown
* Etc
I think you get my drift.
Looking for positives (Sherlock Holmes needed here!) I will congratulate Donny on playing really well and much better than their just-above-relegation league position would suggest. But we made it so easy for them by playing touch rugby in the first half and not realising it was a full contact game. Either Donny have backs who eclipse Jason Robinson and Shane Williams or we are rubbish at tackling. I think the latter. The tackling got better (it couldn’t get any worse than non-existent) but at best we equalled Doncaster for periods; we never looked better than them.
All our problems came out to play: two sin binnings, dodgy lineout throwing, knock-ons galore.
I refuse to single out players who today let the side down. It was just a team malaise.
High point? The referee smiling knowingly at Hax when he heard the sarcastic comment aimed at him suggesting he didn’t know what a knock-on was.
Bad day at the office. Can only get better.

Sadly, yesterday we managed to do all of those quite competently without any help whatsoever.
COME ON LEEDS.
We've been through it all together.
Only joking, spot on review. Thank you.Sums up what most of us felt.
One step forward. 2 steps backwards.
I wasn't there but I think you've perfectly conveyed the frustration of what sounds like a very bad day at the office.
Sometimes no in depth analysis is required, they just beat us all ends up.
Superb report.
The collective expertise of the glow hats, in deep discussion throughout the game, were unable to identify any win by us at the home of the Knghts.
The jinx continues and Saturday was clearly described by Almo earlier.
I would add 'dire' to whatever has be said before.
Up Tommy's Yorkshire TYKES !
