Moseley came to Headingley today and gave it their best shot. Their reward was three well taken tries but not points as Yorkshire Carnegie ran in eight...
From the kick-off Carnegie kept the ball for numerous phases, lasting 5 minutes. Then, following a scrum, Moseley managed to retain the ball for 15 minutes. So after 20 minutes it was 0-0. Then the blue touch paper was lit and the lads scored 4 scintillating tries before the break. All the tries came from the backs but the interlink with the forwards was key.
The second half started with a dull 20 minutes when Moseley managed to cross the line more than once. Then the lads woke up again and ran in another 4 tries.
The result was an emphatic 52-19 win. Who starred? Well for me it was the diminutive but effervescent Matt Dudman who delivered quality passes, made some tasty breaks and scored a nice try to cap it all. He was well supported by the skipper, Buzz and Mike Myerscough who did the hard yards. Our bench, as usual, added to the team effort with Matt Smith catching the eye. 4 tries for Jonah and only one driven maul resulting in a try for Barnard.
All in all a satisfying performance, oh and Mr Wigglesworth was excellent!

Great to see the backs getting into gear at long last. 26 unanswered points in the first half and 26 more in the second.
Obviously not quite perfect so to criticise the team on this performance would be nit-picking.
So I won't.

Dudman was excellent first half, really lively and arrow passing. Barnard put it on the line today. Really solid performance. Some of the kicking was poor mind.
Its a decent sign we are winning whilst swapping the team around.

Some very good performances today. Agree re Dudman, quick ball got the backs moving. Thought both centres were good and CG as well. Forwards were impressive as a unit, and I thought Plug had a great game.

Good to see the backs hungry for the ball. Good to see that the team have taken heed of comments on this site and avoided a large amount of pointless kicking out of hand. Good to see a good referee, Tim was very good yesterday. All in all a good game and, in my view, the MOM award deservedly went to Jonah Holmes for his 4 tries!

I am surprised that no-one has commented on Glyn Hughes performance.
I thought he did OK; good distribution but every time he tried a break it was read and he got tackled. His place kicking was slightly erratic, as indeed it was when he played with us.
I really think J-Lo got the best out of him - Glyn's kicking can't be too bad as he is one of the top scorers in the Championship and I wish him all the best in the future.

Good choice of match to at last let the backs cut loose. It appears we can play both the dour and the pretty. Quite impressive so hats off to the coaching team.
Liked Dudman at SH. His box kicking was best seen all season and he played with awareness. A mention for Harry as well. 8 tries in an open game means that the person through whom everything goes must have done something right. Overall that backline looked quite special including the lads who came on.
I know it will be tougher against different opposition but great confidence booster.

Good point re Leonard, with some quick ball he looked different again and the back line looked dangerous nearly every time they had possession. CG was excellent.

Was great to see the backs cutting loose at last in a thoroughly entertaining game. Bit churlish of BR I thought in his post match comments on Jonah. Perhaps I saw a different game to most. I was more impressed with us defensively. I think Moseley were better than many have given them credit and really came to play. They dominated possession and territory for long periods of the game. Our first up tackling in contrast to theirs was excellent and we did really well to keep them out at the start and end of the first period where we managed to survive several 5m lineouts. They may have lacked in one or two areas, especially their lineout which was a disaster area and were to a large extent architects of their own downfall as most of our tries came on the turnover. Yet they were a gnats away from scoring 4 tries away from home. I anticipate that Billesley Common on a wet windy March day won't be a comfortable place to go.

Although Leonard's kicking out of hand has been erratic this season and he has come in for some criticism, he seems to me to be such an improved player overall, including his passing, compared to last season when he used to regularly come in for some fearful stick! I am assuming that has been the result of improved coaching and a much needed boost in confidence provided by the staff and other players. Personally I think he has a lot of potential but I wonder if he might lose his place to Sir Kev thereby losing momentum/confidence. I hope BR can accommodate both players.

With a critical technical eye I think I know where BR was coming from with his comments re Jonah, JohnnyP. He's clearly one of the best backs in the league on his day but, on occasion, makes unforced errors. Think that's perhaps what he was referring to. BR seems to like being hyper critical of players but only to try and make them better.

Agree with your comments on Leonard. But I have great faith in the Brush Rotation System to keep both Sir Kev and Harry fit and happy. I suppose it comes from Premiership experience where second or even third choice players have to be kept motivated.

You know what you get with Harry. Strength or a weakness you take your choice but I thought things were better with him than with the short cameo from Joel Hodgson . As for Glyn I thought he looked in decent enough nick but would do better behind our pack.

A team can only play what's put in front of them and Moseley were pants. 52 points against says it all really. Maggs shouldn't hide his own shortcomings by being disingenuous to others. On that performance I can't see them staying up !!!
