Player of the Month Nominations - October

October was a better month for Tigers who went unbeaten although it was very close against Neath and Bath. No one shone throughout the month to the extent of Tim Stimpson in September but there have been some notable performances.

Some examples are Geordan Murphy's fantastic come-back after injury against Calvisano and Austin Healey's second half against Neath where he scored a great try that almost clinched Tigers' first away win of the season.

And so to the nominations....

This month one man has dominated the nominations - Martin Corry

"My Player of the month nomination goes to a Mr Martin Corry. Even though he has not been chosen in the condensed 33 man England squad to play the 'Big Three' in November, he has continually played to his very best for the club so far this season. His performances in both in the early European group games and domestic games have shown him to play at his very best continually. He deserved to be in the 33 man squad but has let that pass by fantastic club displays and will be needed much more for the games we play between the internationals when our squad is not as strong as it is normally." - Pebles

"I would like to nominate Martin Corry. He has had to move round the positions this month yet again. Despite the bitter disappointment of not being selected for the Autumn internationals because of a mistake which is 12 months old he has given everything to the Tiger cause. Whoever said he had a quiet game at Neath didn't see him close up after the game. As usual, he was covered in bumps, cuts and bruises. He has tackled, caught in the lineouts and carried the ball forward for some very hard yards all month. And he said thanks for coming to junior and myself at Neath." - Razcal

Another player who has caught the attention this month has been new boy Tom Tierney

"I would like to nominate Tom Tierney as he has fitted in to the scrum half position perfectly. He isn't afraid to order about our pack and gets stuck in at the breakdown. He has pace and can give the backs quality ball under the most extreme pressure. To me he is the perfect No.9 for the club...Sorry Harry!" - Brodie

Player of month for September Tim Stimpson continued to perform at a consistently high level, although his kicking suffered slightly after the Newcastle game, he showed that when the pressure is on he can pull it out the bag yet again at Saracens when in extremely blustery conditions he managed to nail every shot even those from the touchline. Add to that his immense runs from full-back in the Neath game which helped to secure a vital point.

Another player who although has only played two games has shone in each is Geordan Murphy who I am going to nominate purely for getting that long-range drop goal to ensure that the Sorries had nothing to show for their efforts, mwahahahahaha ha ha ha ha ha.......and of course the fantastic performance against Calvisano when his presence seemed to give our backs the spark they have been looking for all season.
