TallBird - The man with the golden boot

Stimmo's boot has a magic touch
Sending the ball high in the sky
He slots it straight through the uprights
One of the few to reach 1000 points
One player much envyed by many

Nottingham was such a time
When the posts did play there part
Sixty metres he had to kick in usual style
It did hit one and then it hit the other
The ball dropped over and we did all applaud

Yor vocal talents have been put on show
When you joined in with the band
Hey Jude ehcoed around the bar something we rarely hear
with Stimmo on your team you won't have a bad day
For he is a talented guy

Stimmo your golden boot is much revered
you are one of a kind
Your talent is remarkable
One that cant be rarely matched
Stimmo Stimmo the crowd does cheer when you do your stuff

Carry on dont give up
Guide the ball in the right path
and the Tigers to their rightful glory
Stick with us, if only we could help
we will cheer you on and stay the best team in the world.

Stopsy

The referee then raised his arm
To us a penalty
Up ran the man and grabbed the ball
This one's down to me

Full 60 metres from the posts
The game was all but gone
Our hopes again, came to rest
On Leicester's favourite son

As silence fell on half the ground
Hands were clasped in prayer
A kick to win the game again
Step up the mighty player

He placed the ball upon the tee
Looked up to check direction
Then he gave a mighty kick
A bar then post deflection

Time stood still the crowd was rapt
The chances all were slim
Then oer it dropped for 3 more points
The game was won by Tim

In red was tears, in green was joy
The man of many parts
Had once again defied the odds and
Broken Scarlet hearts

(Bits in brackets not part of the poem, just added notes for
clarity!)

Squeaky didn’t like him
Although he’s squeaky clean
And though he’s been a Lion
He was barely in that team
(‘cos of that ginger headed Welsh bloke got in instead)

So Deano made an offer
To lure him from oop North
And Stimmo was so grateful
‘Cos he’d of hated going to Borth
(That’s how the posh prawn sandwich brigade say Barf!)

He thus appeared at Welford Road
A sensation he soon became
For he made a lasting imprint
On every single game
(The ones he played in anyway ‘cos he scored lots of points!)

His biggest test came in the cup
Of course, the Heiniken version
Firstly, down in gay Paris
Where he scored a great conversion
(and hence stopped that cheeky Argentina come Italian chappy from
dropping a late winner!)

But perhaps his finest hour
Was brought on the following year
When the injury time penalty
Went majestically over, No Fear!
(And of course it was never in doubt from the time it left his boot!)

And so what will the future bring
With Munster due to soon be here
He seems to be a bit out of favour
Let’s hope he’s in so we can have a beer
(To celebrate a fine kicking including a late drop goal to secure
victory perhaps!)

Adrian Mole

At full back there?s no one his equal
A born winner through and through
Cos he's won 5 championship medals
And 2 Heineken Cup medals too.

At international level he?s ready
And it's about time that Woodward saw sense
And played him the full 80 minutes
Instead of just warming the bench

And I know when Tim goes to Heaven
A message has been left at the gate
For St. Peter to make contact with Jesus
To tell Him of Tim Stimpson's fate.

Because Jesus performed many miracles
Making lame walk and healing the sick
But these miracles all seem so trivial
Compared to Stimmo converting 'That Kick'

And I know that they all can't believe it
Father, Son and the Holy Ghost
How from a distance of 58 metres
Tim scored via crossbar and post.

So you don?t need the Wisdom of Solomon
To know Tim will play on God's team
Lets enjoy the time that we've got him
And praise the Tigers 15.
