Tim Stimpson Poetry Competition winner

The judges had their work cut out identifying a winner from the numerous high quality poems you submitted, and that was shown by each of the 4 judges selecting a different combination of 1st second and third placed poems.

However the poem that three of the four judges mentioned in their top three was Duncan Keene's four verse limerick composition:

There once was a Tiger called Tim,
Who Rob Andrew dropped on a whim,
Deano picked him up,
after winning the cup,
He was tall, he was strong, he was slim,

this Tiger called Tim was a star,
famed for kicking the ball very far,
agile and quick,
his passes as slick,
as singing "hey jude" in the bar,

To Australia he should go,
to hear choruses of "swing low",
the country would see,
what a player is he,
the world cup's the stage for Stimmo,

He favours the kicks long and late,
the kinds of ones lesser men hate,
we know he will score,
and then we can roar,
this Tiger called Tim's Grrrreat!
