Buvez-Vous français?
With the prospect of a trip to Paris in December I think some of you lot need some French lessons before you go .After all we don't want those French fans thinking we are ignorant especially if we meet them in the bar.
First of all we need to be able to converse with the people who serve in the bar.

Now you can just buy the lager ( bière/pression ) but there are other drinks you could try.
Bière blanche is a wheat beer. It is like Hoegarten and very refreshing.
You could try Picon Bière which is beer with an alcohol called Picon added.
The locals may well like a Pastis dans l'eau. It is Pernod or something very similar.
If you want something more akin to English bitter try asking for Un Killians. It will come out of a bottle but it is good.
Girly drinks include a Kir ( cassis mixed with white wine). You could of course try them all.
Inside the ground in 2,000 they were selling cans of Heineken at extortionate prices and nobody searched us for our carry ins unlike the final next door in 2001. You will find it difficult to get served in the café near the ground because it will be heaving but it is part owned by Dominici.
Many of you are old hands at European trips but for any virgins there are usually three prices for any drink in a French bar. The cheapest if you order and drink at the bar, then the next price up for a table inside and more expensive but less attractive in December on the terrace. The waiter usually leaves a price ticket with the drinks and you are expected to leave the money on the ticket before going. However, they dont trust the Brits and often ask for the dosh when they bring the drinks.
