Update on the
Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity effort.

As promised a few weeks ago, I have a signed rugby ball to auction for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, but first I want to update everyone on the amount of money raised so far, and to send out a few 'thank-yous'.

All of the money and cheques have been received and I am very pleased to tell you that, through your efforts, you have donated a grand total of £563.36.

A big thank you goes out to all of the Ulster, Tiger and Northampton supporters who contributed their time, effort and money.

Special thanks to:

  • ajack and hippo at Saints and to all of the Northampton supporters who gave up their beer money,
  • John Griffiths who embroidered the 'Tickled Pink' rugger shirts for us at such short notice
  • all of the travelling Tigers who made the effort to buy, borrow or acquire (by whatever means) and then wear the pink wigs, shirts, deeley-boppers, leggings, ties, nail varnish . . . the list goes on!
  • All of the Tigers who made the effort to raise money in their own time for the cause,
  • Nikki for being a 'pink bird' and being the inspiration for the pink theme weekend . . . and for doing such a brilliant job getting rid of the pin badges!
  • Ian (not me) for donating the signed rugby ball to the cause, which brings me to the matter in hand . . . .

I have in my possession a signed rugby ball which is in need of a good and caring home. All proceeds go to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

The ball has 19 autographs on it including Tigers and England and overseas players, past and present.

Names include:

  • Martin Johnson
  • Neil Back
  • Martin Corry
  • Austin Healey
  • Geordan Murphy
  • Derek Jelly
  • Will Greenwood
  • Jamie Hamilton
  • Pat Howard
  • Paul Gustard

Plus others too difficult to read!

Signed ball
So - Ian has given me a 'reserve' value: if the final bid for the ball does not exced this value, it goes back! Closing date will be midnight on Friday 19th February.

Do I hear £50 to start the ball rolling? - pun intended :o)
