END OF SEASON POLL 2018 - Part 1
By Darraghgirl
June 30 2018
So this is what you have all been waiting for - the first part of this season's supporter's poll! Thank you to everyone who voted - so these were your choices:
SARACENS PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Most of you were of one mind but there were a few others who also got a mention. Mako Vunipola (hands of a back and the facial expression of a man being tortured), Brad Barritt, Nick Isiekwe and Alex Goode all received some support but your overwhelming choice for the Saracens Player of the Year (“He should be an International”) was JACKSON WRAY
SARACENS YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR
This one really was unanimous! In fact there was only 1 nomination from EVERYBODY. So this year’s Saracens Young Player of the Year (“Hope Eddie hasn’t ruined him”) is NICK ISIEKWE
SARACENS OLD PLAYER OF THE YEAR
So as expected this one was a straight fight between our 2 old favourites who both retired (or at least I think they have!!) at the end of the season, Schalk Brits and Chris Wyles. And in the end victory for the Saracens Old Player of the year went to a man who’s “joy is infectious” SCHALK BRITS
SARACENS UNSUNG HERO
A lot more variation in this category, understandably. One person even nominated the Medical and Conditioning Staff for keeping 15 players on the field! Other notable mentions to Chris Wyles, Vincent Koch, Ben Spencer and Baz Barrington but the 2 leading contenders were Captain Fantastic Brad Barritt (“how did he survive the Final?”) and “he never misses a high ball” Alex Goode. Almost impossible to separate them but this year’s Saracens Unsung Hero is BRAD BARRITT
SARACENS FIND OF THE SEASON
Another category with a lot of different nominations. Liam Williams, Alex Lozowski, Ben Spencer, Ben Earl and Nick Isiekwe all attracted support but the winner of the Saracens Find of the Season, with a surprising number of votes (“just hope he can stay fit”) is SIONE VAILANU
FAVOURITE SARACENS PLAYER
Once again a lot of suggestions in this category. Mako and Billy Vunipola both featured along with Alex Goode (“Immaculate in everything he does”) Brad Barritt, Chris Wyles and Maro Itoje. But winning his second award this year, your Favourite Saracens Player is that irreplaceable “Gamechanger” SCHALK BRITS
AVIVA PREMIERSHIP PLAYER OF THE YEAR (non Sarries)
Some interesting nominations here. Possibly influenced by the recent International series, Faf de Klerk was popular (and unpopular “can’t stand de Klerk”). There was also support for Danny Cipriani, Olly Woodburn, Gary Graham and Don Armand but your Favourite (non-Sarries) Premiership player is the man with the best Alan Shearer impression VERENIKI GONEVA
INTERNATIONAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR (must play outside Premiership)
Some stellar names here: Beauden Barritt (“outstanding in everything he does”), Joshua Tuisova, Jonny Sexton, Reiko Ioane, Dan LeAvy, Michael Hooper; but the winner is somewhat closer to home. Your International Player of the Year is the man who broke the Top 14 try-scoring record last season, CHRIS ASHTON
BEST INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE BY A SARACENS PLAYER
This was another category where one performance overshadowed all others. There was a mention for Owen in the semi final and one for Jackson Wray but almost everyone went for this year’s Best Individual Performance of the Year: MAKO VUNIPOLA IN THE PREMIERSHIP FINAL
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN OPPOSITION PLAYER AGAINST SARACENS
Honorable mention to Rokoduguni (Bath at the Rec), Dan Leavy for Leinster and Joe Simmons (Exeter away) but there really was only one winner in this category. The Best Performance by an Opposition Player Against Saracens was by ALIVERETI RAKA (for Clermont in the snow)

Not sure how Sanjay could be categorised as a find! Methinks his talents were conspicuous prior to our signing him!
It's a long time since Sports network paid anything!
