Coventry pre-season friendly cancelled

The pre-season friendly match between National League One side Coventry and Saracens scheduled for August Bank Holiday Monday has been cancelled.

The game was advertised on the Coventry web site and the club also emailed their supporters to draw attention to the match.

Coventry Chief Executive Ian Carvell said on Tuesday morning when he confirmed that the game will not take place "We're disappointed but I have received an apology from Saracens and I understand that plans can change."

A Saracens club spokesman said that plans for a home friendly on the Bank Holiday weekend are taking shape and that an announcement will be made once opposition is lined up.

Any game that is arranged at Vicarage Road is likely to take place on Sunday 24 August as Watford Football Club are playing a home match on Saturday 23.
