Even I'm depressed now....It was the first time I'd watched Bath play this season as my next door neighbour has got ESPN at last. I'm paying for it.

It was excellent coverage. Austin Healey really is sharp. It was a tremendously physical encounter. A really dangerous place to be as a player, so, regardless of the performance, just being there involved a level of courage way beyond that of the ordinary man.

But, it was a bit like watching England play in the World cup. Without wishing to be unkind, the curse of having too much money has resulted in the recruitment of an incoherently curious mixture of a rapidly fading superstar or worse, average at best, Leicester rejects and overseas newcomers fresh to the uniquely bitter, vicious, merciless, cruel, unforgiving yet fascinating Aviva Premiership.

Teams torn apart by the all intrusive, ponderous Rugby World Cup are now having to be painfully reassembled and it will take time.

What remains constant is the fervent passion and incredibly extensive accumulation of knowledge that resides within the body politic that is Bath Rugby and which has made it the success story of the past 30 odd years. That won't fade away. But it will take time to build a side.

Rome, itself, was not rebuilt in a day. And neither will be Bath.

Not sure about Geech. With the money he has spent, the results should be much better. The rugby more enterprising.

I will let you in on a secret, but don't tell anyone. At this very moment Bod is standing behind me dictating what to type. He really wants to say it himself, but if he did, it would remove this board of the essential requirement of every thriving forum.

And the philosphy in a sentence? As I interpret it, it is ....damn I've lost Bod again....he's passed out on the sofa clutching his Bath Rugby teddy bear. Bless 'im.
