Good to see the extended squad get some gametime.

When Ellis first emerged there were a few who said that he would end up at 6. Guess now is as good a time as any to give it a go.
Interested to hear about Oghre. England U18 hooker who apparently is a good carrier.

A United team, which is entirely right.
Counting down to someone saying we should be playing the strongest possible XV.

If we lose there will be ranting...

I thought Alex Humfrey played very well in the singha 7s.

This is true, however, the degree of ranting is also impacted by other external factors, for example the result of the Exeter Redskins vs. Taffy Scarlets

I just remember having a terrible preseason last year and it leading to a domestic season of equal measure...

Surely the point of a pre season friendly is to get the first team playing together as a team as preparation for the new season. How does this help at all? Probably only 2 or 3 players that might end up playing in the first league game.

Every single one of those players could at some point be called on to play for the first team so why wouldn't Bath give them some game time now?

Generally also to test out new moves and tactics etc, though I don't think that can really apply this year.
It's an opposed training session.

I'm not sure there's a relationship between the players you select for your first preseason game and the overall season. Did we have a particularly brilliant preseason the year before?

Any chance this is going to be on the radio or is Twitter the best source?

Won, 20-14. Scrappy it seems.

Sounds like KPN was fairly ineffective at scrum time, Clark had a big game with two mentions on the official twitter feed, first for a big hit resulting in a turnover and secondly for drawing in three tacklers on the crash ball. The live blog singles out good performances from: Clark, Sisi, Mercer, Auterac, van Vuuren. Which is good to hear!

I went to the game. We had a young and rusty team. Yorkshire seemed to dominate the physical battle in the first half and went into half time rightly ahead. They tired as the game went on and our fitness began to tell a bit.
To be honest there wasn't a lot between the teams. However I think Bowden needs to buy Clarke a pint after giving him man and ball into a huge hit.

Sorry you didn't like the music - we have had a lot worse: I think Carnegie employ an ex-wedding video photographer for these highlights. Hope you agree it was a great event - perhaps you spoilt the party by kicking goals though (even in the first half) - but I suppose it would be embarrassing to lose to a second tier side on Blackadders first match in charge.

Obviously all the second string players need to have game time but the priority is surely to get the main combinations that will be first choice building an understanding as soon as possible. I'd have thought we would start with first choice with 2nd tier replacements coming on later. I don't think the 2nd tier status of our opponents should have much of a bearing as they are decent opposition. Shame that KPN was slow off the mark as he is someone we would like to make more use of this season. Hopefully lessons will have been learnt from last season's disastrous pre-season from which we never recovered.

Can't see any point playing or first choice given we played badly and by the sound of it won through fitness with none of them in a shirt.

Chronicle today saying that Matson is in the UK and should start at Farleigh in the next couple of days, with Blackadder expected to arrive this week sometime. Both should be at the Scarlets game.
