Join Your Rugby Mates For A Game Of Golf
ERE Gold Day
By Glen Leat
February 15 2003
You've heard of the Bob Hope Classic Golf Tournament, well "ERE" comes of age this year as it has it's own golf tournament. Rugby fans from across the West Country are invited to attend the "ERE Gold Day"; to enjoy a spot of golf, sink a few beers and generally have a good laugh.
The "ERE Gold Day" will be held
at Farrington Golf & Country Club (10
miles SW of Bath, near Midsomer Norton) on
Monday April 14, 2003 and it will be backed
by Bath's main sponsor, Blackthorn which
means there should be plenty of booze on
the prize table!
Tournament organiser Tony Harrison said "I
have already been in touch with Bath coach
Michael Foley who said that he will arrange
for a Bath player to attend, and I am hoping
to get a player from our other locals clubs,
Glawster and Bristol. I hope to have a few
signed shirts on the prize table along with
a few odds and sods provided by Blackthorn,
and we will have a raffle for a few fun bits."
Calling this a tournament is a bit far fetched
but I just wanted to say "ERE"
has a tournament named after it. "The
emphasis is on having a great day, and not
on winning a two-week cruise to the Bahamas
- thus the rather low entry fee." said
Harrison. "Anyone who wants to play
should e-mail me as soon as possible on toneharrison@btinternet.com."
A number of people have already said they
will attend the event but have not confirmed
to Tony their attendance, if you are going
to play please confirm as soon as possible
to help the arrangements.
The club is also open to the public, so none
golf players can come up after the event
and meet friends.
The approximate start time will be 1pm, and
the cost will be £30 per person, to include
coffee on arrival, 18 holes, and ham, eggs
and chips or similar after the game.
