Bath Need Revenge This Weekend!

After a few weeks out of the saddle the Bath players have to climb back on board their personal bucking broncos to see if they can get revenge on the Sarries for the hammering we took at the start of the season. It has not been comfortable these last few weeks propping up the league table!

This re-arranged match is one of the many "must wins" we will be playing between now and the end of the season though our Welsh pair of Gareth Cooper and Gavin Thomas have been kept in after school by the Wales coaching staff as they prepare for the wooden spoon match against Scotland. Fortunately for Bath the new Wales skipper, Jonathan Humphreys, demanded to be released and the Bath faithful will be looking for more of his passion to drive the forwards and set up the backs for the play they have failed to deliver so far this year. It was interesting to read the words of Matt Perry in the Bath Chronicle this week when he confirmed his personal disappointment at the standard of backs play this year.

Given our extreme weakness on the wing with the continuing absence of Iain Balshaw, Bath have signed Samoa winger Elvis Seveali'i from the Wellington Lions and it is hoped this young flyer can make a difference between now and the end of the season. Flicking back through my memory banks I cannot remember an "Elvis" playing for Bath before but I would suggest that we'll be all shook up if he fails to deliver, though we'll certainly love him tender if he scores a hatful of tries. At this stage of the season it's now or never for a series of wins or we'll be way down at the foot of the league in the ghetto otherwise known as the lower divisions. Hopefully Olly Barkley will don a new pair of blue suede kicking boots this week to take advantage of every point available to us.
