Bath Must At Least Get A Bonus Point
By Glen Leat
May 3 2002
After last week's thrashing by Newcastle, Bath have the pleasure of visiting the home of bitter rivals Glawster as the Cherry and Whites continue to enjoy their best season in a very long time. A surprise 12-9 victory in December may help spur Bath on to another unlikely win.
If things were not bad enough for coach Foley
and his players, news emerged tonight that
Iain Balshaw twisted his ankle in training
and so will not play for the rest of the
season. With Mike Catt, Matt Perry, Mike
Tindall and Kevin Maggs all injured things
do not look good for Bath in the back line.
Henry Paul has been drawn back in to the
Glaws side against his previous employers
and may demonstrate that the Forest Dwellers
are not quite as confident as they would
lead everyone to be. Paul has hardly been
a massive success this season yet he provides
the sort of "off the cuff" play
that may just upset the talented but confidence
drained Bath players.
The Glaws fans will be baying for Bath blood
with The Shed in full cry as they see yet
another chance to humiliate the old enemy.
I think it is very likely that the Bath fans
will return home as dejected as they have
from most games this season; the main thing
has to be to try and scrape a bonus point
to ease the burden of relegation (if anyone
actually believes there will be relegation
this year!).
