Brazilian GP: Massa encouraging 7th in FP1

Team Summary:
Both Team drivers would use the medium tyre for their installation laps and after their first runs the Williams drivers would be third and ninth with Felipe Massa ahead of his team-mate Lance Stroll. But it should be noted that Felipe was behind the two Mercedes who had set their times on the soft tyre. The Williams drivers initial runs were on the super soft tyre with Felipe's first run seeing him complete nine laps. For Lance he would spend longer on the track as he aimed to come to grips with learning this Interlagos circuit. He would complete sixteen laps prior to pitting. Both drivers would continue on the super soft tyre for their second run with Felipe dropping to seventh as the session continued. Lance would drop to eleventh as he continued his longer runs on the super soft tyre.

With the end of the session Felipe had completed twenty eight laps and Lance forty two. As far as the times with the end of the session it was Hamilton quickest with a 1m:09.202 followed by Bottas, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Ricciardo, and Vettel. Felipe's quickest time was a 1m:10.102 and Lance a 1m:10.632, 0.5 behind his team-mate. The session was an encouraging one for the Williams team with Felipe well inside the top ten and Lance just a few tenths outside.
