Abu Dhabi GP: Little improvement for Williams Martini in FP2

Team Summary:
The start of the second Friday practice session would see the majority of drivers coming out on the super soft tyre. After the first runs it would be Hamilton fastest with a 1m:38.912 followed by Bottas and Ricciardo. Vettel was fourth followed by Raikkonen and Vandoorne. Verstappen was seventh followed by Perez, Alonso, and Sainz tenth. Vandoorne was on the ultra soft tyre but would spin near the last corner and would pit. Ricciardo was now second with a 1m:39.346. With just over an hour remaining the Williams drivers were eleventh and sixteenth. Bottas was now out on the ultra soft tyre and would go quickest with a 1m:38.609. Hamilton was also out on this tyre with many others following suit.

On the ultra soft tyre Hulkenberg would move up to fourth followed now by Vandoorne and Vettel. Hamilton would go fastest with a 1m:37.877 to lead Bottas by 0.149 from now Vettel who was in second. Vettel had been quickest but Hamilton had moved ahead with Raikkonen now third. Verstappen was now in sixth after a run on the ultra soft tyre. After their first ultra soft tyres runs the Williams drivers were now in tenth and twelfth. Ricciardo would improve with a 1m:38.180 to remain in third. Thirty eight minutes remaining and the top ten was Hamilton, Vettel, Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Bottas, Verstappen, Ocon, Hulkenberg, and Alonso tenth.

Perez would move up to seventh with Ocon now eighth followed by Hulkenberg and Alonso in tenth. Drivers were on long runs with Hamilton on the ultra soft tyre and Vettel the super soft. But Hamilton would move to the super soft tyre for further longer runs. Both Williams drivers would continue to lap the circuit while Lance would swap his front wing during his run with just over ten minutes remaining in the session. The majority of the field were on the super soft tyres for their longer runs. The session would come to an end with no changes in terms of the order as the drivers used the opportunity to do practice starts on the grid. Both Williams drivers would finish outside the top ten with Felipe eleventh and Lance fourteenth.

Felipe Massa:
Felipe would be the last driver to set a time coming out on the super soft tyre. He would set a slow 1m:48.354 after been hampered by a yellow flag with Vandoorne's spun McLaren. Felipe would continue to run and would set a 1m:41.665 to be sixteenth. He would pit after a seven lap run. Felipe was back out on the ultra soft tyre and would set a 1m:40.011 to now be ninth dropping to tenth. A 1m:39.635 would see Felipe now ninth as he pitted after a six lap run. He would drop to tenth to be behind Alonso. This would become eleventh as Felipe returned still on used ultra soft tyres, most likely on a longer run on this tyre. With twenty five minutes remaining Felipe had completed thirteen laps in total on the ultra soft tyre. Felipe would pit late in the session to change to used super soft tyres which he would run to the finish of the session.

Lance Stroll:
Lance's first run would be on the ultra soft tyre and would see him set a best of 1m:41.534 to be thirteenth with fifteen minutes of the session completed. Lance would pit after a five lap run. For his second run Lance would again come back out on a set of ultra soft tyres. Lance would seta 1m:40.864 to be eleventh but all those around him were still on the super soft tyre. Lance was able to find pace setting a 1m:40.532 to now be ninth. Lance would pit now in tenth. He would drop to twelfth while in his pit. With just over forty five minutes remaining Lance would return again on a new set of ultra soft tyres A 1m:40.329 from Lance but this would only see him thirteenth having dropped behind Sainz. This would become fourteenth as Lance sat in his pit. Lance would also come back out on used ultra soft tyres. During his run Lance would pit to have his front wing swapped over most likely with some back to back work. Lance would also practice coming into the pit lane and then the exit which goes under the track. Lance would continue on the ultra soft tyre to the end of the session.
