French GP: Williams Martini hampered by rain in FP3

Team Summary:
With clouds over the circuit the final practice session for the French GP would get underway. But it would start to rain as the majority of the field came out. Drivers would push ahead looking to set times before the rain got heavier. Bottas would go quickest with a 1m:33.666 on the ultrasoft tyre. Both Williams drivers had pitted prior to setting a time. Sainz was now second followed by Leclerc and Alonso. Most of the rain was falling in the last sector. Vettel was in fifth as the rain got heavier. The track would empty with the Williams team drivers not have set times.

With ten minutes remaining Alonso would take to the track running on the full wet tyre. He would be joined by both Williams drivers. Alonso would pit after a single lap. Both Sauber and Torro Rosso would also send their drivers out for exploratory laps. But they wee told not to take any risk. The session would end with only 15 drivers setting times with the Williams drivers 14th and 15th but their times were on the wet tyre.

Lance Stroll:
Lance had also come out on the ultrasoft tyres. But would pit with the arrival of rain showers. He would return with under ten minutes remaining using the full wet tyre. Lance would run wide at Turn seven but was able to continue. He would set a 2m:02.399 to be 14th. He would pit after a two lap run.

Sergey Sirotkin:
Sergey would take to the track on a new set of ultrasoft tyres but would also have to pit as a result of the rain. Sergey would join his team-mate out on the track running on the full wet tyre. Sergey would set a 2m:04.093 pitting after a two lap run.
