German GP: Rain limits running for Williams Martini in FP3

The final practice session for the 2018 German GP would see the session affected by rain. Only nine drivers would set a time during the session with Williams drivers Sergey Sirotkin and Lance Strioll finishing in 3rd and 9th. Lance would have a spin at the close of the session taking to the grass. With limited running with the teams not been prepared to risk their cars prior to qualifying not much coulbe drawn from the results of the session.

Team Summary:
On a day that saw the rain start to fall with the start of the final
practice session drivers would complete their installation laps running on
the full wet tyre. The only driver not to use this tyre was Hulkenberg
running on the intermediate tyre but he would pit and changed to the full
wet. With ten minutes of the session completed no times had been set and
Ferrari, Mercedes, and Force India have not taken to the track. Hulkenberg
would set a 1m:36.873 after which he would pit.
With nine minutes remaining cars would start to return. Leclerc would go
quickest with a 1m:36.447 followed by Hulkenberg, Ericsson and Sergey for
Williams. Vettel was now quickest with a 1m:35.573 followed by Leclerc,
Ericsson. More times would be set and with the end of the session it would
be Leclerc quickest from Ericsson, Sergey, Vettel, Gasly, Hartley,
Hulkenberg, Raikkonen, and Lance. Only nine times were set and not much
could be drawn from the times set.
Lance Stroll:
Lance would complete a single installation lap running on th full wet tyre
given the rain. Lance would join his team-mate for a short run as the
session drew to a close. Lance would set a 1m:38.393 to be fifth. He would
not improve dropping to ninth. With the end of the session he would have a
spin off onto the grass but he was able to continue and pit.
Sergey Sirotkin:
Sergey would join his team-mate out also on the full wet tyre. He would pit
after a single lap. With the rain Sergey would not return until just under
ten minutes remaining. A 1m:37.644 from Sergey on his first timed lap to see
him second. He would improve with a 1m:37.376 currently fourth. Sergey would
improve with a 1m:35.334 to be third. |
