Sirotkin wants to achieve a result at Williams

With Lance Stroll almost certain to be leaving the Williams team moving to the Force India team there has been a considerable amount of discussions as to who would be the drivers for the Williams team in 2019.

These discussions have been centred around certain drivers coming to Williams but now there has also been discussions regarding whether or not Sergey Sirotkin would stay with the team in 2019.

Sergey has indicated that he would like to stay at Williams in 2019 but his major backer the SMP Bank said they were not sure if they would continue their backing of the Williams team which has struggled the 2018 season and would look  for alternatives. Once possible one has been a move to Torro Rosso by Sergey joining fellow Russian Daniel Kvyat.

And at the rceent Russian Grand Prix Sirotkin’s management was seen taking with Red Bull's Dr Helmut Marko, which set in motion the Torro Rosso rumours.

But when asked about this in Japan Sergey said: "So far nothing has been decided."

"I repeat that I am together with the team and together we want to get out of the situation that we find ourselves in."

As for the concerns with his backer SMP Sergey also made it clear that yes they did have concerns.

"I think both SMP Racing and I have the same answer — we want to be doing better than we are doing now. But the last thing I want to do in our situation is say we give up.

"We have already made great efforts, so I don’t see the logic in stopping now without achieving a result," Sirotkin added.
