Team Summary:
The first quickest time was from Leclerc with a 1mL:19.334 but Vettel would
go quicker with a 1m:18.925. Both were on the soft tyre as Vettel improved
with a 1m:18.255 followed now by Leclerc and Hulkenberg. Ricciardo was now
fourth ahead of Sainz. Both Ferrari's would pit but would quickly return on
new soft tyres. Vettel had spun his car at the final chicane prior to
pitting. On his out lap Bottas had spun at Turn five going into the gravel
seeing a red flag come out. The session would restart with Hamilton going
third from Verstappen and Raikkonen. These drivers were on the medium tyre.
Hamilton would go quickest with a 1m:17.655 from Vettel and Leclerc.
Both Williams drivers would complete soft tyre runs with George finishing
ahead of team-mate Robert. Twenty minutes remaining and the order was
Hamilton, Vettel, Leclerc, Albon, Verstappen, Gasly, Magnussen, Kvyat,
Grosjean and Ricciardo tenth. The track was quite empty with drivers coming
in to get ready for their qualifying simulations. Fifteen minutes and
drivers started to return. The top three were all back out joined by Bottas.
Bottas would go quickest with a 1m:17.291. But Leclerc would go quicker with
a 1m:17.099. Hamilton would also go quicker with a 1m:16.568. Leclerc was
now second followed by Vettel, Grosjean, Bottas, and Magnussen sixth. Bottas
would move in to third while Verstappen was only seventh. More drivers were
on second runs on the soft tyre.
But the session would be red flagged when George would go off at Turn four.
The session would not be restarted with the top remaining Hamilton, Leclerc,
Bottas, Vettel, Grosjean, Magnussen, Verstappen, Albon, Raikkonen, and Sainz
in tenth. The Williams drivers were slowest with George ahead of Robert but
not had not had the opportunity to complete his qualifying simulation.
Robert Kubica:
With the start of the Saturday practice session it would be Robert who was
out first running on the hard tyre. he would set the first time of the
session with a 1m:28.795. He would improve with a 1m:26.335. Another
improvement with a 1m:26.214 as he continued to lap on the hard tyre. A
1m:25.863 from Robert with seven laps completed. Robert was currently
seventh. He would continue to find tenths setting a 1m:25.602 followed by
1m:25.170 and then a 1m:24.812. Robert would complete a single lap pitting
to return on a set of soft tyres. On this run Robert would set a 1m:20.834
to be 0.881 behind his team-mate. Robert would improve with a 1m:20.570 but
was still 0.813 behind his team-mate. he would pit after a five lap run.
With five minutes remaining Robert would return but he would have to pit as
a result of the red flag and could not return.
George Russell:
After a ten minute wait George would come out running on the soft tyre.
George would set a 1m:21.581 to currently be sixth. He would improve with a
1m:20.688 but would pit after a five lap run. He would return on a new set
of soft tyres but would have to pit as a result of the red flag. George was
able to improve with a 1m:19.953. This was just 1.6 seconds behind the
quickest time from Vettel who had run on the soft tyre. George would find
time with a 1m:19.757 having completed four laps. He would pit and change to
a new set of soft tyres returning with twenty minutes remaining. But he
would pit after a single lap. George would return for his final run on new
soft tyres with eight minutes remaining. George would set a 1m:19.421 to be
18th and ahead of Stroll. But it would go wrong at Turn four for George
spinning off and going backwards into the barrier. The spin was totally
unexpected with the rear braking away. The car looked not too badly damaged. |
