Team Summary:
The first car out for qualifying would be a Williams but other drivers would
come out with everyone running on the soft tyre. The Williams would go
fastest, if only temporarily, but Stroll would set a 1m:19.113 to move
ahead. Vettel would set a 1m:18.068 with Leclerc going quicker with a
1m:17.835. Hulkenberg would go off at Turn four, the same corner as George
Russell, damaging the front of his car. He was able to get back to his pit
while Verstappen was now quickest with a 1m:17.244. Gasly was now fourth
followed by Sainz, Albon, and Kvyat. Bottas would go quickest with a
1m:17.175 while Hamilton was third behind Verstappen.
Leclerc was now third as Hulkenberg returned to the track with five minutes
remaining. There were only two cars out on the track but more would return
for their second runs. With the end of the period Bottas would remain
quickest while for Williams they would again be knocked out finishing 19th
and 20th with George 1.1 seconds ahead of Robert. The second period of
qualifying would be totally dominated by the Mercedes drivers with Bottas
ahead of Hamilton. Vettel would be third followed by Leclerc, Verstappen,
Gasly, Grosjean, Kvyat, Magnussen, and Ricciardo tenth. The final period
would see Bottas again dominate the period ending on pole ahead of Hamilton,
Vettel, Verstappen, Leclerc, Gasly, Grosjean, Magnussen, Kvyat and
Ricciardo. Williams will start from the rear of the grid but Robert would be
ahead of team-mate George due to George's five place grid penalty due to his
gearbox change. |
