Team Summary:
With the start of the second Friday practice session for the 2019 Belgian GP
it would be the Haas cars out first running on the medium tyre. They would
be joined by both Williams drivers. Magnussen was fastest with a 1m:48.560.
The track would become busy with the medium tyre been the most common
choice. Vettel would go fastest with a 1m:46.069 followed by Magnussen and
Grosjean. Leclerc was now fastest with a 1m:45.377 followed by Vettel,
Perez, Stroll. Kvyat and Gasly sixth. Both Williams drivers had pitted after
short runs.
Sainz was now fourth but Giovinazzi would move ahead. Sainz was fifth
followed by Raikkonen, Stroll, and Kvyat eighth. Fourth would become
Hulkenberg followed by Ricciardo, Albon, Giovinazzi, Norris and Sainz tenth.
At the front Leclerc would remain quickest but Hamilton and Bottas would
move into second and third. Vettel was fourth followed by Perez, Hulkenberg,
Ricciardo, and Albon eighth. Verstappen would move up to second with
everyone except for the Williams on the medium tyre. Drivers would start to
do runs on the soft tyre with Vettel going quickest with a 1m:44.753. Bottas
would move up to second followed by Perez and Leclerc. Hamilton was now
third but this would become fourth as Leclerc went quickest with a
1m:44.123.
Albon would move up to eighth but would drop to tenth while Verstappen was
only sixth. With forty minutes remaining the Williams drivers continued to
be slowest. The track was now pretty much empty with thirty five minutes
remaining. Drivers started to come out for longer runs including both
Williams. Both drivers would commence their runs on the soft tyre but Robert
would switch to the medium. With five minutes remaining the top ten was
Leclerc from Vettel, Bottas, Hamilton, Perez, Verstappen, Raikkonen, Stroll,
Ricciardo, and Albon tenth. The Virtual Safety Car would be deployed as
Perez had stopped with smoke coming from his car in what looked like an
engine failure. The session would be red flagged without any changes in the
order. For Williams it was another difficult session with their drivers
again slowest but there was a margin between the pair with George leading
Robert.
Robert Kubica:
Robert would come out early running on the medium tyre but he would pit
after a single lap without setting a time. He would return after a short
stop coming back out on the soft tyre. He would set a 1m:49.557 on his
first flying lap. Robert had improved with a 1m:48.971 and would pit after a
seven lap run. He would return after a shot stop coming back out on the soft
tyre again. He would set a 1m:48.436 to move ahead of his team-mate. He was
able to improve with a 1m:48.331. Robert would pit after a five lap run. He
would return on another set of soft tyres. From his times it looked like he
was on a longer run. Robert would pit after an eight lap run returning on a
new set of medium tyres. he would complete eight laps prior to the session
been red flagged.
George Russell:
George would return for the second Friday practice session having seen
Nicholas Latifi run in his place in FP1. George would come out on the hard
tyre for his first run. George would set a 1m:53.928. He would improve with
a 1m:52.128 and would pit after a four lap run. George would also return
after a short stop coming back out on the soft tyre. A 1m:450.057 from
George on his first flying lap. George would improve with a 1m:49.025
remaining slowest. But George would set a 1m:48.576 to move ahead of his
team-mate having completed six laps on the soft tyre. He would also pit
after a seven lap run. George would also come out for a second soft tyre
run. George was again able to move ahead of his team-mate with a 1m:47.887.
He would pit after a four lap run. George would return again on the soft
tyre for a longer run. He would pit after a fourteen lap run on the soft
tyre changing to the hard. But he would be forced to pit with a red flag. |
