Singapore GP: Frustrating qualifying for ROKiT Williams

Team Summary:
The opening eighteen minute period would commence qualifying for the 2019 Singapore Grand Prix. After a quite start the period would see a rush of drivers coming out with both Mercedes on the medium tyre the rest on the soft. Raikkonen would set a 1m:40.255 but Giovinazzi would move ahead with a 1m:40.029. But Bottas would set a 1m:38.623 to go fastest only to see Leclerc go faster with a 1m:38.014. Verstappen was now second followed by Bottas and Hamilton. Sainz was fifth followed by Vettel, Albon, Norris, Kvyat and Giovinazzi. Gasly would move up to seventh to be ahead of Albon.

Ricciardo and Hulkenberg would now be tenth and eleventh. Vettel would move up to now be second and Verstappen now third. Everyone had pitted but Mercedes would quickly return now running on the soft tyre. Everyone except for the top three would return all on the soft tyre. Bottas would go fastest with a 1m:37.317 and Hamilton now second benefiting from the soft tyre. The period would end but lots of drivers were on flying laps. But neither Williams driver would improve finishing in 19th and 20th.

The second period of qualifying would see Leclerc fastest with a 1m:36.650 followed by Vettel, Hamilton, Verstappen, Bottas, Norris, Albon, Sainz, Ricciardo and Hulkenberg in tenth. The final period of qualifying would see Vettel set the early quickest time with a 1m:36.437 followed by Leclerc, Verstappen, Hamilton, Bottas, Albon, Sainz, Norris, Ricciardo and Hulkenberg. The second runs would see Leclerc move ahead of his team-mate with a 1m:36.217. Hamilton would go second seeing Vettel drop to third with Verstappen fourth followed by Bottas, Albon, Sainz, Ricciardo, Hulkenberg and Norris. As for Williams it was a frustrating qualifying with neither driver able to set an improved time on their second runs with both having their own individual problems.

Robert Kubica:
Robert would be the first driver out for qualifying running on the soft tyre. But his put lap would see him return to his pit after completing what was essentially an installation lap prior to his first run but returning on a new set of soft tyres to set a 1m:41.186 to be 0.3 behind his team-mate. Robert would pit after a three lap run but would return quickly for another soft tyre run. But Robert would not improve and was out of qualifying. It was later revealed that Robert had an issue with his car which saw him miss doing his last lap of qualifying by just one second.

George Russell:
George would follow his team-mate also on the soft tyre. George would set a 1m:40.900 on his first lap. George was the slowest of those who had set a time. He would improve with a 1m:40.867 but did not change position. George would pit after a run of five laps. He would come out for a second run on new soft tyres. But he would also fail to improve and was also out of qualifying. George had lost time by running wide at Turn seven. He would later say that his qualifying was a bit of a let down.
