Team Summary:
The Williams drivers were out first running in the opening eighteen minute
period both on the soft tyre while both Ferrari's were out on the medium
tyre. More drivers were coming out all on the soft tyre. the Williams
drivers would go first and second but Leclerc would go quickest with a
1m:33.613. Raikkonen was second but Sainz would move ahead with Norris
third. Magnussen would go second while the Williams drivers would drop down
the order to currently be 11th and 12th. Both Williams drivers would pit
with just over nine minutes remaining. the Williams drivers would drop to
16th and 17th. At the front Hamilton on the soft tyre would go quickest with
a 1m:33.230 with Verstappen second from Leclerc. Bottas was fourth followed
by Magnussen, Hulkenberg, Sainz, Norris, Ricciardo, and Grosjean tenth.
But the period would be red flagged when Albon was to spin and crash into
the barrier with the rear of his car damaging the rear wing and suspension.
Albon would be out of qualifying as Albon was 18th. Kvyat would not be ruing
in qualifying due to an engine issue. Vettel had made a mistake on his first
run and was down in 19th. The period would restart with Vettel coming
straight out. He would be followed by a Williams. Vettel would move up to be
quickest with a 1m:33.032. More drivers were coming out. After the next runs
it would be Vettel quickest from Hamilton, Verstappen, Bottas, Leclerc,
Magnussen, Ricciardo, Sainz, Norris and Hulkenberg tenth. The Williams
drivers were 17th and 18th and out of qualifying.
The second period would see Leclerc fastest from Vettel, Verstappen,
Hamilton, Bottas, Grosjean, Norris, Sainz, Ricciardo and Hulkenberg tenth.
The final period of qualifying would see Leclerc secure pole from Hamilton,
Vettel, Verstappen, Bottas, Sainz, Hulkenberg, Norris, Grosjean and
Ricciardo tenth. So for Williams the Russian GP weekend is proving to be
tough and Sunday's race is going to be one of aiming to achieve their best
under difficult circumstances. |
