70th Anniversary GP: Close FP3 results for Williams Racing

Team Summary:
The final Saturday practice for the 2020 70th Anniversary Grand Prix would get underway with questions still over the most suitable tyres given the issues that the drivers had with the soft tyre on the Friday. A small group of drivers would take to the track but they would all pit after single laps. With just under ten minutes of the session completed there had been no track activity beyond those initial runners. Norris would be first back out using the soft tyre. He would be joined by Sainz on the medium. Norris would set a 1m:29.236 with Sainz second with a 1m:29.661. Vettel was now second on the medium. Leclerc on the medium was now fastest with a 1m:28.954 only to see Norris move ahead with a 1m:28.923. A very slow start to this session with close to twenty minutes completed as the next cars of Raikkonen, Giovinazzi and Hulkenberg came out.

Leclerc would improve with a 1m:28.346 as more drivers came out for their first timed runs. Norris was now second followed by Sainz, Vettel and Raikkonen. Hulkenberg would move into third with Grosjean and Magnussen sixth and seventh. Stroll was now quickest with a 1m:28.202 but Gasly would move ahead with a1m:28.040 both of the soft tyre. Bottas was now quickest with a 1m:27.509 also on the soft tyre. After their first runs the Williams drivers weer 15th and 20th. At the front Hamilton would move into second behind Bottas. Verstappen was now third followed by Gasly, Stroll, Ocon, Leclerc, Norris, Sainz, and Hulkenberg tenth. Kvyat was now in tenth as we now had the two Williams in 15th and 17th with Nicholas leading George. Virtually all the times were been set on the soft tyre with only three been set on the medium. Hamilton was able to use a set of soft tyres to go quickest with a 1m:27.280.

Norris on the medium and he would set a 1m:27.202 to go quickest. Hamilton was second with Leclerc now third. Vettel would improve to be eighth. Bottas was now quickest on the soft tyre with a 1m:26.784. Ocon was now fifth followed by Verstappen, Sainz, Gasly, Hulkenberg and Kvyat tenth. Hamilton on the soft tyre would set a 1m:26.621 to be quickest. Stroll would move up to fourth behind Norris. The Williams drivers were now 14th and 15th. Hulkenberg was now fourth ahead of his team-mate. Leclerc was sixth followed by Verstappen, Albon, Ocon and Sainz tenth. Both Williams cars would return to complete practice starts from the grid. The Williams drivers would finish the session in 16th and 17th again ahead of both Alfa Romeo's. The results would seem to question as to whether both Williams drivers can get past Q1 in qualifying.

Nicholas Latifi:
With thirty five minutes remaining and Nicholas was out for his first run on the soft tyre. Nicholas would set a 1m:29.574 to be 16th, dropping to 19th. Nicholas would set a 1m:28.860 to move into 15th. Nicholas would also pit after a short run on the soft tyre. Nicholas would return again on the soft tyre. His first lap was a 1m:28.125 to be 13th. He would pit having dropped to 15th. This would become 16th as he also returned to complete a practice start.

George Russell:
George would be first out for the Williams team running on the soft. George would set a 1m:29.016 to be sixth. He would drop to ninth. George would comment that what we did at Turn 3 & 4 seemed alright. George would now be 12th. he would drop to 15th as he pitted after a six lap run on the soft tyre. While in the pits George would drop to 17th. With twenty minutes remaining George would return again on the soft tyre. He would set a 1m:28.349 to move up to 14th. George would pit currently 16th. This would become 17th as he returned to complete a practice start.
